    PERFACT - ordered 10/19/24 and received the next day on a Sunday. The only thing that was wrong with my LMD was the printed circuit board which is not available alone. I made failed unit work by removing PCB that allowed 220v NC relay to relax and allowed current through relay to appliance. Thank you again Amazon for coming to my rescue.     Bought two of these to shed the load of the hot tub and the A/C condenser unit. Price was substantially less than electrical distributors were charging and way less than an electrician quoted me. Haven't really tested them but several electricians who specialize in generator installs highly recommended this unit. They monitor the line frequency of the generator and if a large load connected through one of these is on and drags down the frequency of the generator, it cuts off the load for 5 minutes so the generator doesn't stall. Useful when your generator isn't sized for the maximum load your home could demand. In my case I have a 14KW generator (Generac) but it is somewhat undersized for my worst-case loads which would've required a 22KW generator. Recommended. Best if installed by an electrician - this is a hard wired device and you should be very familiar with electrical wiring if you are even allowed to do your own wiring in your jurisdiction. ... show more

    The five stars is also how easy it is to swap out the top board. Took about 5 min. to swap out the top board. Total job with waiting the delay for ac to come back on was about 15 min. Diagnostics previous day was probably about 15 min to see the light wasn't on and check for power at the incoming connections. If it was hot we would have jumpered around the unit until the new board came. They should sell these boards separately considering how often they go out based on the other reviews. This is our first failure and it was at about 3 yrs since install. 1st pic. old board with burn mark on the back of it. 2nd pic. front of old board where you can see dark area around likely failed component. ... show more

    so far one works. all 3 had to be replaced after 4 - 6 years. terrible quality. the electrician tells me that this new 7000 series is much more stable and he hasn't had to replace one yet. these were relatively simple to install but you're working with 240v high amp systems. make sure the contactor/breaker is off then measure for any residual should you want to change it yourself. typically, after disabling the source, i just short the leads to make sure the load is fully discharged. it's simple enough to just match the settings of the module being replaced. ... show more

    Turns out these SMM are high failure items for some. 8 years until one on the pool equipment took a dump. Didn’t think I would find them here but did, and reasonably priced so I bought a replacement for failed unit and a spare. Generac brand part. Good stuff Maynard.

    Here's what I sent to Generac customer service 8/26/2024: I am very disappointed with your 7000 SMM because I have replaced 4 of them in my home system and now a 5th one has failed. I bought the replacements October 2020, December 2020, April 2021 and November 2023. My Generac 22kw was installed 8/25/2018 and works perfectly. Either your design is flawed or the components are not robust enough for the job. I want you to send me a new SMM free of charge because it should last longer and is expensive to buy at $150 each. I sent this to Generac 8/30/2024: From what I was told today, I would need to have a dealer confirm that I have a defective SMM and then you would send him a replacement. The dealer would have to come to my house to install it and charge me for installation. They would charge $250 for installation which is $100 more than if I just buy the part myself Why won’t you answer my question about the poorly designed and built SMM? You know that they are not reliable The dealers know they are not reliable The customers know that they are not reliable Your lawyers know that they are not reliable, and have probably instructed you to not admit that they are poorly designed and built. Generac has a great reputation for its generators. Why can’t you make a module with the same quality as your generator? I challenge you to respond to me truthfully. ... show more

    Tried to replace only the mother board from the new load manager so I didn't have to remove the old box. The logic is different and didn't work. When I replace the entire load manager box, it worked perfectly.
