Had my 6 year old load shedding module fail with no LED after dinner, and was back in business by lunchtime the next day, thanks to Prime. I don't want to even know what our generator company would have charged me and how long it would have taken them to come out. For me it was much easier to swap out the box internals (circuit board and relay...6 screws total) than to dismount the old box and mount the new one. New Review on 7 Nov 2021. Two of the three originally-installed devices have now failed. This time, the replacement is almost $100 more than the first. These units clearly need to be more durable. I was originally under the impression that these devices would be able to detect "generator power" vs "utility power" and only take effect when the generator is running. Based on actual observation, I now know for sure that these devices shut down EVERY TIME there is a power failure and the only "value" they add is the ability to return power to heavy-use devices one at a time. That in my opinion does not justify the high price. Original rating: It's hard to give something a five-star rating when it replaced one of its own that lasted only two years. These items are expensive and they do only one thing, which makes me wish they lasted longer. But the new one does work and it was well-packaged, etc. so I am hard pressed not to give it a new rating. The problem is that the original unit was not very durable. If this short life expectancy is also true for the unit just installed, then my rating would be one-star. ... show more

The board on these seem to go every so often- wish they would just sell the board as it can be swapped out fast and easy. Have several of these on our whole house setup- they work well for being able to run the whole house off a generator by managing the loads. Just that we are on our 3rd one in 5 years the boards seem to go right at where the power supply is. These newer ones seem to be lasting longer. ... show more
