GEARWRENCH mechanics tools have all been designed with the professional user in mind to increase productivity, access, and strength. The ratchets, sockets, and wrenches are made from premium alloy steel and feature a full polish chrome finish that resists rust and corrosion. Large, hard-stamped markings allow for easy identification and can be easily recognized as SAE (double line) or metric (knurled line). Additionally, the off-corner loading design puts force on the flats of fasteners for improved durability and reduced fastener rounding.

  • Very good
Style: 312 Piece Set
Great set just missing a couple sockets or will receive the same socket sets multiple times

  • So it's 312 pieces, but with some really strange omisions.
Style: 312 Piece Set
I bought this as a shop set as an addition to a pretty extensive USA Craftsman collection in the garage. Fit and finish, quality of the product all seem pretty good. It has very limited "fluff" items, no Allen keys, driver bits, etc. There is nowhere where this set is listed with an inventory of what is actually in this set, and zero paperwork comes with the set, like zero, not a scrap. No inventory list, no warranty info, not even a welcome to Gearwrench sort of thing, absolutely nothing. It IS packed pretty well, double wall boxes inside other double wall boxes, although inside those is just bags where everything is just loose, Sorted out by type, but loose. So a couple wrenches don't look particularly pristine and the Combination wrenches were just covered in greasy finger smudges. So not a lot of prep before packaging. Plan on counting to verify you get everything and prepare as you're sorting through to identify some obviously missing pieces and then discover the count is complete. There are some very strange omissions. Let's start with 1/2" drive. 1/2" drive 6pt &12pt shallow SAE goes from 3/8th through 1" by 16ths, as is expected and typical. The 1/2" SAE deep (6pt) omits 15/16ths for whatever reason and no 3/8ths, which is an omission at the end of the size range so I can live with that. Metric is a little more all over the place, 10-19mm deep, 10-24 in 6pt and 8-24 in 12 pt, all complete, no skips in any series, but certainly not generous, and frankly the 1/2" drive size range lacks some token larger sockets, even if limited to a single type in SAE and Metric. The Metric Deeps are almost laughably limited, being more like a 3/8" size range than 1/2". On to 3/8th" drive. Here there again is 6pt deep, and 6 and 12pt shallow. in SAE all 3 are the same 1/4"-1" by 16ths, and are complete. There is no skip of the 15/16th in any of the 3 and with the exception of the additional 1/4" socket as the bottom size, it's the same range as 1/2 drive, which seems odd and makes that missing 15/16th in 1/2" drive deep just seem odder. Metric is all 6-22mm no skips in all 3 types, except there is a stray 24mm 6pt deep socket, so missing a 23mm there, OK not unusual for metric skips in larger sizes, however let's remember that 1/2" drive deep stops at 19mm, so you don't get a 23 deep there either, and why do the 3/8th deep go larger than the 1/2 deep? 1/4" drive, maybe the oddest of all. In inch we go from 3/16-9/16th in deep (both 6 and 12 pt this time) and 5/32-9/16 in shallow. So obviously shallow has 5/32, and all have 7/32 and 9/32 and all BUT 12pt shallow has 11/32, why just that one? It's an understandable size to omit I suppose but only in one of the 4 "types"? And then we have the most bizarre omission of them all, in 1/4" drive metric which are complete in all four types from 4-15mm (+5.5mm) except for one size in the deep 6 pt. Wanna guess? 10mm. I guess Gearwrench figures you're gonna lose it anyway so they just pre-lose it for you. Just so every person that buys this set just starts out, from day one, looking for the missing10mm socket. Is it a good value? Seems so, It looks well made and consistent, Sizes are not particularly easy to read, but SAE and Metric are differentiated with a deep knurl on the Metric. Chrome looks good. The ratcheting combo wrenches that came in the set are flip over, straight pattern, non offset, non reversing, but seem decent. Ratchet heads look nice. The 1/4" drive screwdriver handle is not my cup of tea, but if there is one undesirable in a crowd of 312 I'm OK with that, and particularly that piece. On casual inspection it seems on par with industrial and tool truck tools, and would likely perform as well for 99% of how you'd use them NOT in daily driver industrial or professional setting. The downside? The high side of the 1/2" drive size range is pretty weak, I certainly think a "Master set" needs to go to 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" in SAE and 30-32mm in Metric. The 1/2" drive deep Metric is kind of unexcusably weak, capping out at just 19mm, especially considering ALL other socket types in BOTH 1/2" AND 3/8" drive go beyond that. And, well, let's face it no 300+ piece socket set is gonna get 5 stars with an intentionally missing 10mm socket, I mean that has to be some inside joke somewhere. I do truly hate the fact that my OCD would just never allow for the missing 15/16ths, the 11/32nds, and sin of all sins the missing 10mm. So I've spent almost $600 for a "Master set" on Amazon and will need to back fill it from Ebay, and probably add that 23mm too, as well as some larger 1/2" in the process, to something that ISN'T my primary set of tools. Is any of that really necessary? For me, no, I have that depth in other sets in another part of the house, BUT if I am going to buy socket organizers for these, as this is a case-less loose set, which I already have ordered, gaps are just a philosophical problem. It may very well be that I will never use those missing pieces that I feel compelled to purchase, but it's kind of the principle of the thing. It should "feel" like a complete set, which it doesn't. ... show more

  • No SKU on GW website
Style: 300 Piece Set
Can only go by pictures. My box was 15"×6"×2' feet , I think around half the things pictured could not fit in there. Wrenches were not the Taiwan versions, Sockets missing, I would look at the GW239 pc set or 243 in the case. All I cared about were the wrenches. I took a chance trying to get the Taiwan versions but it was mainland non stamped open ends. My box was filled to the top with bolt biters, wrenches, sockets, lots of pieces missing. Great Service by Amazon, GW not impressed lately. Severely over priced , all marketing , not very professional tools. Amazon has a surprising amount of fantastic options. Proto, Williams, Wiha, Knipex, Malco, the DeWalt 192 I bought twice for my truck! Never any issues there. There's still some things from GW but feels like rolling the die. Wish 120xp was a single pawl. That's all they have and not confidence inspiring imo. Bottom line pictures do not match. The wrenches is what bothers me the most. 21mm vs 21mm the heavier one, 20 grams heavier, is the Taiwan with the stamped open end. ... show more

  • Missing probably one of the most common sockets in a set
Style: 312 Piece Set
Let’s start by saying I loved the kit unboxing and I’m not a picky guy normally I ordered organizer to pair with this kit but as I’m going through the kit I counted every peice because I’m looking for a 10mm deep socket that wasn’t in there to start with so this irritates me horribly going from craftsman to Pittsburg to snap on to now gear wrench there is just one funny thing about it all the previously mentioned brands included 10mm deep sockets how can they skip one of the top 3 most important sockets for anyone who works on gm trucks at least they included one for 3/8s but I’ve went to harbor freight and bought tool kits that included guess what the 10mm deep socket I’m debating about sending this kit back for what it costs it should include all 10ms for each drive deep and short no exceptions and that’s a shame because I’ve went away from snap on because I was looking forward to going all gear wrench the tools I’ve bought in the past have been complete kits but for the price I hate it’s missing a 10mm and a couple standard sockets standard Is understandable but not the 10mm deep in 1/4 drive I’m reaching for both 3/8s and 1/4 10 deep dsily with gm trucks and this just irritates me I’d have to buy another socket to complete a brand new unboxed set ... show more

  • Missing Sockets
Style: 312 Piece Set
Missing 9 sockets out of the set, I’m currently trying to deal with Gearwrench to get replacements to complete the set. For the amount of money this set costs it’s very disappointing to have to deal with this. Learn from my mistake and listen to all the reviews about missing items.
