  • Very accurate
Style: 3/8 Drive Pattern Name: Wrench
As a mechanic of 20 years my tools are very important. This torque wrench is incredibly durable and comes in a nice molded plastic case. This torque wrench is very simple to use and is accurately calibrated compared to other torque wrenches I own. The handle is very comfortable and its narrow swing makes it great for tight spaces. The torque wrench is powered by AA batteries so there’s no need to charge it. If it runs dead, just replace the batteries. ... show more

  • Worth the price!
Style: 3/8 Drive Pattern Name: Wrench
For the price it's amazing! Works really well and feels pretty solid. One thing I don't like is the torque value setting. You have to press the set button then it goes up in .20 increments and beeps for every one of them. You can hold the button to change it but when you do that it starts slow then just shoots through the numbers. It will take some time to adjust to that. Once you finally reach your value hit the set button again. Now you're ready to torque some bolts. The increment adjustment and all the beeping while pushing the buttons is my only dislike. Save a ton of money compared to the tool trucks if you don't mind beeping and the way you have to go through so many increments. ... show more

  • Takes 3xAAA batteries, not 2xAA - Good wrench compared to click-style
Style: 1/2 Drive Pattern Name: Wrench
Took a while to get it turned on because the first two sets of batteries I tried didn't work, but the third set did. For the record, the 1/2" drive fixed-head wrench uses three AAA batteries, not two AAs as per the Amazon description. After a quick trial, it seems to work well. The vibration is a little weak for my liking, if I had the option I would probably just turn it off because I can't really feel it through my gloves. It's a very weak, high-frequency vibration with a loose and almost tinny-sound rather than more of a strong, tight vibration from something like an iPhone or Playstation controller. Aside from that, the light isn't that great either as it's a small, individual LED on the screen so unless you're looking directly at it, you won't notice it. I think if GearWrench ever upgraded this model, an LED ring around the top of the handle would work much better. I think it's an okay torque wrench for the money. It feels solid and the ratchet action is tight and smooth so you can always get a nice angle to torque your wheel lugs. ... show more

  • Accurate and easy to use
Style: 3/8 Drive Pattern Name: Wrench
The media could not be loaded. I bought this product specifically because it was able to be adjust at lower torque specifications. I would say the instructions it comes with aren’t the best, but it’s fairly intuitive. When you input a torque specification, it stays in the memory and loads to that last setting. This is important because the unit auto shuts off after a a minute or two of inactivity. It has lights, sounds, and vibration feedback as you approach your specified setting, so it’s pretty simple to use. I was a big fan of these features. Plus, the digital display shows in realtime what the current torque rating is at as your torquing the wrench. Highly recommend! ... show more

  • Almost Perfect
Style: 3/8 Drive Pattern Name: Wrench
After purchasing and utilizing this Torque wrench to do some work on my vehicle in some hard to reach areas, I was pleasantly surprised. This torque wrench made the job easy and the vibrating alert function when you hit your targeted setting is helpful, especially when you are reaching areas you cannot see. My only gripe is that there is no one hand quick release function to remove the socket. You physically need to remove it with two hands and this was very unhelpful when removing spark plugs in hard to reach areas and might need to switch back to a ratchet wrench for some reason or another. While this does not take away from the tool, it is just a hopeful feature they add in future models. ... show more

  • Buy another brand
Style: 1/2 Drive Pattern Name: Wrench
I’ve own this less than a year and roughly 90 degrees of the total ratcheting mech doesn’t engage anymore and the remaining part that does, does only to about 40 ft lbs then snaps past. I believe either the teeth are sheared or badly damaged. I only ever used this up to 90ft lbs for my wheels. Kept in the case, took excellent care of it and in less than a year it’s nearly useless. If you try to claim a warranty, they send you to a third party shop out of West Virginia. At which point you have to pay shipping to get the tool to the shop, they “need it for about a week”, and then they determine if it’s under warranty. No idea if this is a fox or replace situation. I’ve owned this less than a year and it’s trash, now you want me to pay to ship it to some random company who then decides if it’s a warranty or not. On what criteria? This is nuts. Don’t buy this tool. You’re on your own if it breaks, and at the very least gear wrench is going to make you jump through hoops for a repair or replacement. After this experience I wouldn’t recommend GearWrench anything to anyone. This is terrible service. Update: After another email to Apex they doubled down on sending the tool off for repair rather than offering to replace it. There is absolutely NO REASON that within the first year anyone should have to compromise on a repaired and clearly defective tool. Apex will actively choose to make this harder on the customer when given the chance. ... show more
