We purchased two sets for out 12 ton wreckers for recovery. So far, they have been able.to do everything we have thrown at them. Not one has deformed, broke chipped, nothing. Of course my opperators are professionally certified and trained recovery personalle, so they adhere strictly to WLL and know rigging and the mathematical formulas of resistance, pull, angles, etc. But for the off road jeep weekender, these would be more than plenty. Infact, when we recover jeeps from lakes, swamps, trails, we pull off their 4t shackles and install these to make sure we are covered. So yea, Id say if our operators can use these shackeles in life saving situations, and put their life and $250k wreckers on the line, they are good! ... show more

This shackle is huge. It hangs off my John Deere gator like a ham meat sack. The security thing is not really relevant for my installation but if this was going on a vehicle that is parked in a rough part of town rest assured no thief will steal this they will just jack your vehicle and leave this thing alone. I have an older version of this shackle that does not have the security thingy. This newer shackle is larger than my older version. Hard to believe you need a larger one unless you have this on a rotator or rescue vehicle. But as they say bigger is better. ... show more

Complete the look of my vehicle. The security feature is nice to have, one of the reasons I chose these over other options. Not fool proof, but will definitely keep honest people honest. These are beefy looking shackles, and I have every confidence they will hold up should I need to use them.

Due to the configuration of my bumper the installation was a pain in the ass but like I said that was more of how my bumper is built and not the shackles. They have good weight to them and the extra washer allowed to snug these babies up to keep the rattle at a minimum. I have not had to use these yet for a recovery but I will update my review if and when that happens. Don’t mind the photo. I still have more lights to install. Ha ha ha ... show more

Solid piece of steel. Incredibly good looking and strong. The “security” feature is kinda flawed as anyone with the key can steal yours but hopefully the folks who buy it are decent enough to let you enjoy yours. Solid 5 stars. Great product.

These shackles are awesome and are backed by an also awesome company. My original order came with a small defect in one of the locking pins, it wouldnt fully lock in and seemed to keep spinning as i tightened. (not the end of the world, the shackle was still on and worked. I let the company know about the pin and asked if they could just replace the pin. A completely new box of shackles arrived in the mail. Gear Americas Customer service is really great and you need that to back up a great product. We were on a trail and one of our Jeeps slipped off the edge of a cliff and got the rear wheel all the way to the axle stuck on a rock. We had to use multiple winch points. One where the Gear America shackle was used to lift the entire rear end of the Jeep. The shackle didn’t show it was even used and amazingly enough the Jeep was fine.
