    • Inside racks are strange design..
The inside racks don't offer much in holding large dishes. Only flat small plates. Cereal bowls can't be held sideways. Poor design in my opinion.

When our older portable died we purchased this item locally so we could replace it same day. Although portable choices are limited, this purchase was, in many ways, a mistake. Our older GE unit was, in many ways, more versatile and user-friendly. First, this unit has no heated dry cycle. You have to crack the door open IMMEDIATELY at the end of the wash cycle to use the condensate dry system. This kind of works, but who wants to hang around until the non-adjustable wash cycle is over and the door doesn't like to stay open. Speaking of wash cycles, you get a choice of three and cannot adjust time after selecting one. Speaking of time, the control panel is buried under the door top and you can't see anything after you start it. The instructions say that the wash cycle is over when the finished light comes on BUT YOU CANT SEE THE THING WITH THE DOOR CLOSED and the light goes out when the door is opened. Great job GE! Now for the racks. More poor design. If you're washing plates and silverware you're fine. Bowls? Nope. Can't place them sideways. Pots? Pans? Forget it. No movable tines to create a large enough space. GE needs to offer an optional bottom rack with better spacing. All in all, even though the thing gets stuff clean and is super quiet, I strongly recommend that you find another alternative. ... show more
