  • Works better than I expected
Honestly works better then I had expected. Washes well. Isn't super loud but does make noise. Wheels lock in place and rolls easily. Not a ton of space inside so not expect to be able to fit a huge dinner clean up in it all at once. I raise the dishes before they go in. The only downside is you will need to drain the hose connectors after the wash. It isn't a big deal but does need to be done. I also found thr pods don't work as well in the dish washer. ... show more

  • Overall, this dishwasher is VERY worth the money
Firs things first - Delivery. Apparently, I'm located (NE Ohio) reasonably close to a Danby distribution center, so it was only a few days. I ran into a hiccup initially - the initial shipper calls before delivering - and I wasn't expecting delivery so soon and received no call, nor had any record of it, so the order was cancelled. When I reached out to Danby, the rep I communicated with via Amazon was incredibly helpful! They followed up when I reordered and made sure the shipper (FedEx this time) had the correct number in case they needed to call. If this was in anyway indicative of Danby's customer service team, I'm very impressed and highly recommend them. Next up - this thing is HEAVY - much heavier than I expected, having moved full-sized dishwashers in the past, It feels every bit the 175lbs listed as the shipping weight. If you have to move up a flight of steps, be sure to plan on a couple people and an appliance dolly. My initial plan to deal with stairs was to lay it on it's side and slide it up the carpeted stairs. Do NOT do that. As I started to do so, I quickly realized there was no padding between the exterior box and the dishwasher itself. This would explain why some arrive dented, as leaning it on the edge of a truck and slowly leaning it to the ground could probably easily dent the chassis. I eventually used a yard tractor and cart to drive it around to the back of the house to bring it in through the slider near the kitchen on the main floor (house is built into the side of a hill) and 'walking' it in through a sliding glass door. Unboxing is dead simple - cut the three plastic straps and lift the unpadded outer box off the base. Speaking of the base, it is molded styrofoam in order to protect the attached wheels and adjacent chassis. Unfortunately, unless you can deadlift out of the base, you will have to walk it out, popping the stryofoam edges and stewing it around your kitchen to the point it looks like you just had a light snowfall. My suggestions to Danby would be to better pad the sides -with a couple pieces of very dense cardboard and styrofoam panels, and to consider an expanding foam process for the base. None of these are showstoppers, but it would improve the first-impression experience. Next was the setup, which was overall very good. The racks, sink adapter (included!), hoses, etc... were all well-secured to avoid damage during shipping. The hoses are a little inconveniently located a few inches under the rear, bottom of the back. If Danby could extend these just a bit more, it would make the process a good bit easier. Lastly, the drain outlet has a runner washer that has to stay in place when you screw it in. I found that a tiny dab of petroleum jelly helped keep it in place while attaching the hose adapter. Loading it was very simple, as both racks are very solid and well-thought out. I was pleasantly surprised at how many dishes fit in it. Don't misunderstand - this is a small dishwasher, so don't plan on loading full sized roaster pans along with a full place setting. but for routine dishes, cups and silverware it's very efficiently laid out. As others have noted, there's no place for prewash detergent, so I just squirted a bit of soap in the bottom before starting the cycle. I'm heading the warnings of other reviews and using gel/liquid instead of pods or powder. As far as operation, I'm running my first load right now and can report no leaks and, as others have mentioned, it is surprisingly quiet. I'll update later regarding how well it cleans, but so far I'm very happy with choice and highly recommend this dishwasher and company. -- Update: Multiple initial attempts to run this dishwasher were terrible failures, with failed cycles and error messages and beeps. I reached out to Danby a second time and was impressed that they were happy to accept a return. Dreading moving it out and another in, I decided to completely empty it of water (hoses off, tilting back to 45 degrees) and let it sit overnight to try it one last time. I'm glad I did - it completed two unloaded cycles, as well as half a dozen loaded cycles since then. The initial results were disappointing with a heavy soap film covering everything. After researching more (and reading the manual, finally) I learned the gel detergents commonly leave more residue than powders or pods. That, and Dancy recommends a rinse agent to be used with their dishwashers. And I couldn't agree more - the next load with the gel I had on-hand along with a rinse agent had my dishes come out spotless. I'm still a little hesitant because of the initial error messages and beeps, but overall I am extremely happy with this dishwasher and very impressed with Danby's responsive customer service. I highly recommend this dishwasher and company. ... show more

  • No pre-wash container, but you should put some extra detergent directly into the tub anyways.
It's a dishwasher that hooks up to your faucet, whether it has a male or female connector. Works pretty well, without leaking. Includes a sanitize option and a very handy LED that lets you know when you're low on rinse aid (apparently not everyone uses rinse aid despite it being dirt cheap and lasting forever, just use it), but otherwise it doesn't have anytihng fancy like a fan to dry the dishes faster. It comes on wheels to move it around, but they've got tabs to lock them in place. A major drawback is the length of the included hose, which isn't easily replaced -it's too short to really work unless the dishwasher is directly in front of the sink, so you can't do anything like park the dishwasher beside a counter and snake the hose over to the sink, even if it's only one cabinent wide the hose is like a foot too short to accomplish that. So using hte dishwasher means having the middle of hte kitchen blcoked, which for my tiny apartment means having it directly in front of hte stove where I'd like to cook while my dishes are cleaning. Since this is a compact dishwasher (though not as uselessly tiny as countertop dishwashers that lack the capacity to handle a pot or pan), it's narrower thant you might expect if you're used to traditional dishwashers. There's still a top and bottom, but there's a removable caddy for silverware that you'll likely have to remove if you want to wash large pots, as it's nestled right in the middle of the bottom rack. Top rack still has its own spinner so it's not like the dishwasher cheaped out on that. Be aware that the dirty water gets pumped out of hte machine between each cycle - it'll drop down from your faucet into your sink. Don't leave dishes in the sink where it's going to drain, both because it'll come out with some pessure and possibly spray up on your counter, and because any residue that water washes off could potentially clog the sink, or a plate might slip and also block up the sink, causing hte sink to overfill and make a mess with dirty dish water getting everywhere. Empty sink only. When you go to disconnect the hose, be sure to push that red button first to drain the hose first to avoid water spraying everywhere. As with any dishwasher, don't use too much detergent. Don't use pods, partly because those already have too much soap, but also because this is not quite a full-sized dishwasher which compounds the problem and will likely leave soap residue on your dishes. Use powder or liquid detergent, fill to the first line (so not very much), and then add a small amount directly in the tub for the pre-wash - the machine doesn't include instructions to do so, but it should as it dramatically improves the cleaning performance as that initial rinse will be able to get more residue off without the problem of leaving soap residue from using too much soap at once. Overall a solid machine. Dishwashers are just a lot more efficient at washing dishes, and especially with the sanitize setting they're a lot *safer* compared to hand washing as the higer temperatures will kill pathogens with scalding hot water that you couldn't safely use when handwashing, even with thick gloves. ... show more

  • Regretting this purchase
A total pain to move around. It is super tiny. Cleans ok.... if you wash your dishes before you was your dishes. No matter how much I try to drain the hose it dumps on the floor. Regret my purchase

  • Is this thing even on!?
This is the quietest dishwasher I've ever had. We checked several times to make sure it was running. It was and the dishes came out sooooo clean! Buy this!

  • Great unit
This dishwasher has been a saving grace. When we received it the outside of the unit was slightly damaged but I expected that due to how heavy it is for shipping. We put the hoses together and hooked it up and it works perfectly no leak and it does a really good job
