Had a fairly difficult time getting this to connect to my network when I initially set it up. Once I got it connected, for the most part it works through Google home without issue. On occasion, Google home does not recognize connectivity of the AC, and I have to wait a little while or use the remote to manually power on , power off, or adjust temp. Despite the random disconnects, I am truly satisfied with this air conditioner. It cools the room quickly, and even cools off other rooms outside of my bedroom. I specifically bought the 10,000 BTU model for this purpose, so I wouldn't have to install another AC in my living room. I have limited outlets in my apartment, and I'm actually using this a standard outlet with a couple of other devices plugged in. No issues with power dropouts, or overloads. It connects into Google home, which is another feature I was looking for in a smart AC, and most of the time, I am able to easily turn it on, off, or adjust the temperature or any other feature or setting by voice. I also really like the scheduling feature, so I can set it to turn on or off, whatever temperature I want, for whatever days and times I want. The good: The AC took less than 15 minutes to install. It rapidly cools a 300 square foot space. The fan is powerful and the noise level is fine (it's a very even, calming white noise). The remote works from across the room. The bad: The "smart" features are completely useless. The app (at least on a late-model Android phone) is entirely unusable. It times out so rapidly (within seconds) that I could barely set up an account, let alone move on to the next steps. Bottom line: If you need a powerful AC that isn't so loud, this one works, but don't expect the "smart" features to necessarily work. UPDATE: I'm bringing this up to 5 stars as the issue noted above was apparently a glitch, as I was subsequently able to access the "Smart" features. There are still a few minor glitches (occasionally the AC drops from the network, even when the rest of my wi-fi and internet are fine), but it's 95% there, which is good enough for me. ... show more

Initially the product worked as expected. The wifi connection was a bit clunky, but it eventually worked. The unit was used about two months out of the year and stored safely when not used. The unit lasted only two years. I called support and they do not service these units, no parts available and they do not send service professionals for these units. If under warranty, they will give you a credit to use on another GE product. If not under warranty, they will give you a prorated value of the amount they believe you paid for it. For instance, if the price was $299.00 before tax and you use any gift certificate or any credit towards the purchase, they will deduct that from the amount they will credit you saying that you didn't not pay $299.00. I tried unsuccessfully to explain to GE, that the cost of the unit was the amount listed on the receipt on the total before tax line. Any gift certificate, amazon store credit or credit card used needs to add to up the $299.00 + tax. Sadly, they said the amount I paid was the $299.00 minus any store credits/gift certificates. We agreed to disagree since I knew that I'm not going to buy another GE unit. Before this unit I had a Frigidaire unit lasted 10 years. I have another Frigidaire unit that has been going for longer than that. I've already purchased a new Frigidaire and do not plan to use the credit GE was willing to give. Two years is simply unacceptable for the lifetime of an air conditioner. Also note, the credit GE gives was in the form of a check that will be issued some 6 to 8 weeks after you provide proof of purchasing another GE unit. Buyer beware. ... show more

This air conditioner is amazing in every way. Lightweight, easy to setup and use and looks so nice and clean, especially compared to the old brown ugly one I had. Very cold air and plenty of settings to keep you at the temperature you’re most comfortable in. Such a great purchase and so nice to control from my phone and the remote it comes with.     • GE AHY10LZ - Not What I Expected

The AC unit looks good and it does cool but it has a high frequency whine if the fan speed is set above Low. It isn't loud but it is annoying. It doesn't sound like a bad motor or bearing. I can't say for certain what or where it is but I think it may be the way the air plenum was designed. However, my biggest gripe is the minimum temp setting. I mainly use this as my bedroom AC and I like my room cold at night. Maybe I'm strange but the colder it is the better I sleep and this has a min temp setting of 64F and the compressor starts shutting off at 67 regardless of the setting. It will continue to cycle on and off every few minutes but will never reach 64 much less anything lower. My old AC would go to 61 and keep it there and I never thought a new one would be different so I didn't check. After looking at others as a possible exchange for this teapot it seems most manufactures don't mention the temp range and those that do also bottom out at 64F. I'm not sure this is a keeper. I could try to get used to sleeping between 67-70 but I don't think I can live with the whine. On the plus side, the smart features are nice and I've had no trouble with the app on my Samsung phone.
