This is good build quality rake. I like it when the rake is adjustable doing different types of garden job. Before I have this rake, I sweep the leaves using the broom. This rake easily collect the leaves from ground and help me finish the job much quicker. Highly recommended.

When this Garden Leaf Rake arrived the small box size shocked me. How could a 16.5" wide by 61" long rake fit in this small of a box? Upon opening it I saw how everything collapses to achieve that small of a foot print. The two parts easily screw together and I was ready to try my new rake. I found it very easy to adjust the width and that immediately came in handy around my raised garden. Typically I have to turn my full size rake sideways to get through this area and that makes it very difficult getting out all the leaves. With this new rake it was a breeze. Next I turned my attention to the remaining leaves on the grass. I extended the tines to full width and it worked nicely. While playing with the width I was surprised to feel the tines also became more rigid when the width was reduced, and they provided a lot more 'give' when at full width. This helped with some of the more stubborn leaves. While raking leaves along a rock wall I did bend one of the outer most tines. It's not bad, but it's something to be aware of because they are easy to bend if you come down at the wrong angle. My biggest frustration, and the reason I took off a star, is the handle extension feature. According to the manufacturer I should only have to twist the handle to unlock it, then extend to whatever length I'd like. I had to get my channel lock pliers to grip the metal coupling hard enough to be able to twist the handle. After extending to full length, I then twisted the handle to lock it in place. Unfortunately I'm not able to untwist it again to collapse the length. Once again, the channel locks did the trick. I guess I'll just leave the handle fully extended. I plan to keep my full size rake for most of the large area yard-work because it's bigger and more durable than this rake. This rake will definitely get used in my hard to reach areas and I will take full advantage of the width adjustment feature. ... show more

This is the best leaf rake I have ever used. It is lightweight yet the tines are very sturdy and do not bend too much with heavy raking. It worked perfectly for quickly removing dead thatch from the lawn. The width is quickly adjustable by simply unlocking the latch and sliding the adjustment up or down the handle. If you are cramped for storage space, you can even unscrew the handle. UPDATE 2-Feb-2023 - I have downgraded this rake to 3 stars after a month of use. Despite being well tightened, today the telescoping part of the handle started sliding in and out and I could not even turn the black plastic tightening collar with all my strength and two pairs of pliers. I had to put the end of the handle in a vice and actually flatten it some then use vice grips to force the collar loose. Apparently the gasket inside had slipped. I readjusted it but I fear it will come loose again. I still like the rake - it is light weight and the tines are good, but I cannot keep it at 5 stars after it failed with one month of occasional usage. ... show more

I'm not that fond of raking, but if I have to do it I want to use this rake. I usually drag three rakes along when I rake my yard: a yard rake for leaves, a garden rake for larger debris such as sticks and twigs and a mulch rake to reach between plants and under hedges. I need all three because sticks get stuck in the yard rake and the yard rake is too wide to fit in small spaces. THIS rake can do it all though! If I spread it as wide as it will go it does fine with sticks and larger stuff. The tines are nice and strong and can handle that too. If I make it as narrow as it will go it reaches into small spaces easily. It does a great job in "medium" mode with leaves. I was able to adjust the handle to the perfect height too. Speaking of the handle, it's both light and smooth. I was surprised that my shoulders didn't ache so much after raking. I guess the extra weight of a wooden handle really does make a difference with extended use. I forgot to put on gloves and was surprised that I didn't get blisters either. I always get them if I fail to use gloves with my old rake. I'm guessing there's just not as much friction with this smoother handle. I will say the handle causes me concern in one area though. It comes in segments that have to be joined and I noticed it seemed to bow a bit at one area of attachment. I checked to see if it was loose. It wasn't, I couldn't tighten it any. I'm hoping these joints won't prove to be weak spots. Other than that I'm very happy with this rake (Or at least as happy as I can be. After all it's still a rake, and I really don't like raking.) ***About me: Integrity is very important to me. Reviews I've posted will be from items I've had direct contact with.
