This is the second of this shade I've purchased. The last one lasted years. This one was slightly different it seemed, but it's standing up to wind, sun and rain very well. It hasn't faded, and it stands up to often very high winds.

Sail shade is just what our backyard ordered. 2 things to note. 1: The first sail shade we received had a manufacturing defect. There was a small hole melted near one of the corners. We contacted the company via amazon. They got back to us in a day and asked for a picture of the damage. I sent them a few pictures, and a few days later had a replacement. good service. 2: While waiting for the replacement, I put up the damaged one, so I could see how well the posts and anchors that I had put in would hold up. A few days later we had Hurricane Isaias pass pretty much right over us. The sail shade was flapping up and down in the wind, and the ropes that i had used to install it stretched a good amount. We also had a decent size branch land on it. Even with the manufacturing defect, the shade held up and did not rip or come loose. So Its sturdy. Very happy with out purchase, we can use our backyard finally in the summer midday without roasting under the sun. ... show more

Original Review: Bought two of the 16x16x23 triangular shades. Our deck space is 18x18x26. We installed them with one corner of each sail approx. 12" lower than the other two corners to allow water to runoff, and they were tightened as much as they could be tightened... they looked great, perfectly tight to the point the wrinkles/creases from being folded in packaging were stretching out of them...prefect! Loved them and they worked great keeping our deck shaded as it faces the South so the sun cooked our deck otherwise! Strung lights around them for ambience, hung plants/lanterns from the posts, put tiki torches up to keep mosquitoes at bay and got lots of compliments when we had a cookout for Labor day... I was overjoyed at how nice they looked, adding character to our otherwise boring multi-level deck. Then it rained ... I came home from work and both were sagging along the longest side so bad that i had to duck under them.. I'm only 5'2"...they were originally install 7'6" up on the lowest side, and about 8'6" up on the other two sides. I assumed it was because it was a fairly good downpour with a steady rain all day and it just weighed them down so I wasn't too disappointed at that point. My husband tightened them back up, they looked great again and they were once again perfect... Until it rained again..this time only a very light rain for a couple hours, most of the time it was only misting, like a foggy mist. Once again they sagged. So regardless of it being an all day rain/downpour or a light mist for a few hours, they will sag when they get wet. Too much work to have to tighten them after each time it rains. UPDATE 9-9-19: We decided not to tighten them back up after the last rainy day we had just to see if they would tighten back up on their own once the sun came out and they had time to dry... and they did about 98%!! I'd imagine if you live in a rainy region, you may need to adjust them every so often, as it seems when they're wet they stretch out causing them to start to sag a bit at the seam along the longest side, but otherwise the heat of the sun will shrink them back up. I have changed my review from 2 stars to 4 stars. ... show more

I likes the fact that this product is so well made. I needed to hang something up on the west side of my home to shade my walkway and living room from the intense heat. We get 99 degrees and higher for weeks on end. I moved my potted plants behind the shade and was able to sit outside in the early evening without suffering in the heat. Would highly recommend. Oh, I put them up myself but used clothes line not the nylon rope that is sent with the product. ... show more
