Item was accurately described and arrived on time. Being in a hurricane prone area, my springs are relatively substantial due to the weight of the door and all the bracing; that being the case, the estimates I received ranged between $200 to $300 (per spring, installed). Not wanting to spend $400 to $600, and being halfway handy, I decided to look into doing it myself and a quick search led me to several videos on the subject. From start to finish, it took me about an hour to remove the old ones, install the new ones and tension them, with another 1/2 hour or so spent finetuning the tension. I would think a professional, who does this day-in-day-out, could probably get it completely done in under an hour. Long story short, about 2 hours of my time ended up saving me several hundred dollars and I am so far very happy with the product. *In my unprofessional opinion* I assume it is best to replace both springs to ensure the tensions are equal and b/c the one spring that didn't break, most likely soon will. I wouldn't call this an overly complicated project, but you do need to be careful because you could seriously injure yourself - there are plenty of videos on this project, so check them out and decide for yourself if this is something you can take on. I would strongly recommend not standing directly in front of the spring cones while tensioning them - in the event a winding bar slips, you definitely do not want to be in the way. Unplug the opener and put a vice grip in the track to prevent the door from being able to open while you're working on the springs, but do remember to remove the vice grip before you try to operate the door upon completing the installation. As a side note, the teeth on my carrier (trolley) stripped out when the spring broke and the door slammed down to the ground from about 3' up, and I didn’t realize this until it was time to test the door with the opener, so I would suggest going ahead and ordering one along with the springs just in case you need it – if you don’t need it, you can return it (assuming it’s unused). A lot of good videos out there on replacing that, too - very simple and the part is cheap ($25+/- for OEM replacement from the Amazon Genie store). ... show more

  • Affordable package that provides good performance
Size Name: 0.225''×2''×28''
One of the torsion springs on my garage door broke so I needed to replace. Checking the pre-existing size and length left me without any local options quickly. These were available the next day. Springs were well packaged and marked clearly. No trouble installing and would buy again (but I hope I don't need to for a while!). ... show more

  • Decent product at this point
Size Name: 0.218X2''X23''
👍🏽 didn’t break on install 👍🏽 arrived intact and ready 👍🏽 instruction included 👍🏽 quality seems ok Notes: I used a YouTube video ("How To Replace Garage Door Torsion Springs") from 11 years ago to help guide my installation. I learned several things to help make the installation WAY simpler thanks to that tutorial. The installation took about 2.5 hours since I had to adjust at the end. The adjustments are important and help ensure that the cables are tight enough when the door is closed. Not twisted enough means the cables will be loose, fall off, and get into a tangled mess. Pros can likely do it faster, but I did this job without the added $600+ cost of a third-party contractor. It was a moderately difficult job and I would do it again if I had to! Other notes: I snapped an image of my torsion spring center bracket with a red circle. This might be why some folks break the ends of the spring connectors. I slotted the center bracket with a Dremel tool to prevent it from smashing against the spring bracket. Also, the bushing inside the left spring (left-facing door) has to be on the bracket (see the 3rd attachment with the white circle). If this isn't done right, the spring ends might break. Gave 5 stars- but still not "easy" to install and a month in- not sure how long it will last; however, delivery was prompt. Following instructions was not difficult and a whole lot less expensive than having to pay someone to do it. But.... better follow directions, because they can be dangerous if not paying attention or being careful. ... show more

  • Works well
Size Name: 0.234''×2''×27''
One our springs snapped during the holidays. Called a few professionals for a quote and got “unavailable until next week” or it was gonna cost $350-500 depending on who I decided on. But still a day or 2 away. Saw this on Amazon and watched a few installation video's and decided Im handy and I can do this. Parts came the next day and I did the whole job in less than 2 hours. I could’ve saved a hour but I realized the previous spring replacement job I paid for was done poorly. Plus after installation I had to reverse my steps to unwind the springs a few 1/4 turns each. They were too strong with the recommended turn count. As soon as I took off the vise grip my 7x16 insulated aluminum door flew open. Turning bars fit both old and new spring. I saw some reviews but I didn’t have that issue. Just be sure to check before you start the job. It’s an easy job if you’re semi handy. ... show more
