  • A Must Try
Color: Set B
If you're thinking about purchasing polygel, then I suggest you give this one a try! This was my first time ever trying polygel and I am so pleased with my results. The instructions were easy to follow and I watched several YouTube videos as well to help me. It takes a while to do each hand. But I'm sure it'll take less time once I get used to it. This is a beginners set, imo. I used pink nude and the tubes seem to be just enough to get 1 or maybe 2 full sets out of them. Someone suggested using a professional nail drill so I bought one and it was definitely worth it. Make sure to cure under the nail. The professional drill will help to buff under the nail as well if the gel is too lumpy or thick. I'll be using this for the foreseeable future, and can't wait to try out all the different colors they offer and in bigger sizes. ... show more

  • Learning curve!
Color: Set A
There is def a learning curve! Do not attempt this if you do not have at least 2 hours to sit down and dedicate to this especially your first time! I will say after my first set I was like welp maybe this wasn’t made for people like me. The pics are from my second set which I did slower and dedicated more time to and I have to say I don’t think I’ll ever go back to the nail salon! They look professionally done! Even my boss asked and was in shock when I said I did them myself! Take your time and watch lots of videos! Do 1 at a time! And most importantly follow the directions! This is not one of those my way is better things! I tried that It didn’t work. I did have to jimmy rig my thumb since the kit didn’t come with a nail wide enough so I did it twice, once as far to the left as I could then added a light layer onto the right side of a nail and applied that. I used a dermal to file it down and make it look seamless but you can get the same look with a nail file it will just take longer. The amount of money I’m saving by using this is worth 10 stars! Kit comes with everything you need. I am super happy with this purchase! ... show more

  • Not bad. Needs better instructions on box
Color: Set A
I am not yet 24 hrs since applying these. I have struggled doing my own dip or finding someone that I like to do them. So for the last year I have only painted and even then my dominant hand always looked like a kindergartener coloring. I ordered these hoping that they would work and not be too upset I didn't spend a small fortune on them. I am not a nail tech. However, I want my nails to look nice and last 2-3 weeks. Also, keep me from picking at my cuticles or nails. I am bad! 😀 I will share my tips and tricks and a list of the extra tools I used. First, go to You tube and watch the lady apply to one nail, it is a 33 min video and SO worth the time. She is a nail tech but still nice to see her apply and tips and tricks. The instructions on the box, not clear at all. I used the natural nude because if I messed up at least it's not TOO obvious. Tip: 1. When sizing the forms, make sure that the curve is not too narrow and the whole thing touches your nail without pressing it down hard. This may mean you have to trim or file the form to fit right. My first nail I chose wrong and it hardened at an angle and not touch my nail towards the tip. Use a marker so you know how much and where to trim the form. 2. Depending how long you want your nail depends how much poly you need also how thick. More you use more ooze you have on the underside. Make longer and clip then file to size and shape. Use the form just to get it on. When you press to your nail it will ooze all around and under. As the video shows if you want to do 2 layers, you can. I did not want to do that. 3. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time and bright bright lights. It took me 2.5 hours and the lights were not nearly bright enough. In the morning sun, I saw alot more to file or touch up. 4. If you find that you did not go close to your cuticle. You can do a "fill" by repeating the steps shown in the you tube video. I had to do this on my right pinky. Can't even tell there is a "fill" piece. 5. You think you will need help with your dominant hand. You probably will not. This product is much easier than painting. 6. Keep brush and poly away from light, it does harden just being close to it. 7. Cord on light is SHORT. So plan to be next to an outlet. I had to do the first 30 seconds with the light upside down to make sure nail was in the right place. Items used not in kit: *Acetone to clean brush after and small cup or lid of bottle to soak *100 grit file to shape form and get skin away from nail *block file, if you choose to file any part on top of nail where it oozes out you need to smooth entire nail *electric rotating file to get the excess under the nail. May get better with practice but first time, I had ALOT *nail dehydrator or alcohol pad/cotton ball *block to plug the light into *cuticle clippers, very helpful in cleaning ooze from cuticle area. Overall thoughts. I am very happy with it. I even like the transparency, to me it looks very natural. I assume the removal is going to be very similar to a dip removal. Hoping they last 2 weeks, tired of doing my nails every week. Good Luck!! **update** Day 3 they started breaking. Not terribly upset because they are long. However, when I do again I will make them the same length as my real nails. This will give them the shine and thickness. Just keep on mind these are poly so basically plastic fingernails. ... show more

  • Everything is just right
Color: Set B
I liked how the consistency was. I have never used poly gel and it was my first time using it and it was not that difficult. The base color i had chosen was the pink nude. The rest of the colors were from Gaoy’s nail art collection as well as their glitter collection. Everything came out so beautifully and I’m glad of making this purchase as i am trying to find a way where i can do nails at home rather paying someone else for an expensive amount of money. ... show more

  • Inconsistent Results
Color: Set B
As many other reviews have stated, learning to do your own polygel nails definitely takes some practice. I recommend checking out some video tutorials and making sure you have at least an hour to work your first couple of times. Having an electric nail file is also very helpful for shaping and removing. Pros: - Comes with a nice variety of neutral shades which can be worn alone or as a base for other nail art. - Wide variety of forms will likely fit most nail sizes. - Most applications lasted more than 10 days until I removed them (see caveat in the 'cons' section). Cons: - Forms have quite a high apex which can make it difficult to know how much gel to use for those of us with little natural curve from cuticle to tip. - Soaking the gel off takes quite some time, even using 100% acetone. - I followed the application steps to a T and still had a couple of the polygel nails pop off. I'm not sure if this doesn't work well in cold climates, but both product failures did happen when the weather where I live started getting notably colder. ... show more

  • Time consuming, but sooooo worth it!
Color: Set A
I’ve been doing my own nails for forever. This was extremely easy to figure out. I used a nail dremel to shave the excess from the under nail as one review suggested. Any parts that weren’t even, for whatever reason, I used builder gel and it was easy. The base and top coats of this kit are great, I used them on my toes as well. No residue top coat. Can’t wait to see how they hold up, but I’m hopeful. They are STRONG. only thing missing are the clips. Please get the clips. They make all the difference. ... show more
