Why would you pay $12+ for a roll of duct tape? You probably wouldn't ... but this is duct tape in name only. At literally about twice as thick as regular duct tape, and stickier than you can imagine, this will hold securely and for a long time. Where you might otherwise have to make multiple wraps with conventional duct tape, a single layer will likely do with this stuff. It's really not even fair to compare it to the regular stuff. It's products like this for which terms like "industrial grade" and "overkill" were designed. The sides of the roll are very sticky, though. Bear that in mind when you're storing it. ... show more

    • POWER TAPE IS CERTAINLY THE RIGHT NAME!

I needed something to repair my torn John Deere lawn sweeper collection bag. The plastic hopper was torn in strips and I had repaired it last year with strong, cloth-like Gorilla Tape which, surprisingly to me, eventually failed as the year went on. The old tape corners lifted while dragging the sweeper, and soil and other lawn debris crept into the adhesive, causing the tape to lift. This Gaffer PowerSteel Duct Tape, however, is a different story. I read the reviews that stated how difficult it is to peel the tape from the roll, which actually told me that this must really be sticky stuff, so I bought it. It really is quite difficult to remove this tape from its role, especially in the long strips I needed, but I stayed with it and pulled slowly with short pulls, making sure after I cut it that it didn't spin around and stick to itself. The hardest part was removing the remaining adhesive from the old Gorilla Tape, but I managed to do so on both sides of the sweeper hopper and cleaned it thoroughly. After pressure-washing the dirt, dust and debris, I applied the strips of the Gaffer PowerSteel Duct Tape and completely repaired my sweeper hopper. It now works perfectly. This tape does not peel or lift one iota, and it is truly the strongest, stickiest duct tape I have ever used. If anything changes, I will definitely update this review, but for now, I am extremely pleased with the results. ... show more

First I had to hold the roll between my knees and then with both hands yank, huff, pull and puff then yank again to get an inch strip. After more yanks, huffs, pulls and tugs I had the 6 inch length I needed. One star for Sticking well to the roll and self. Being very careful not to get it stuck to itself, I proceeded to affix the strip (as a temporary repair) to a fiberglass surface under the car. (Just to get me from point A to point B for a more permanent fix.) This was not in the vicinity of the engine or muffler, but rather in front of the right side rear passenger door. As I was driving there was this smell that I kept getting. I thought OMGOSH my car is gonna catch on fire! I pulled over, looked underneath, no fire just the normal heat you can expect from a car that has been running. Not convinced that I wasn’t about to die if my car caught fire, I got my fire extinguisher out so it would be available ASAP should the need arise. Second Star: Made it home safely and without further incident. Next morning went and looked under the car and there a 2 inch piece of the 6 inch strip I used, was just flapping in the wind. Contrary to my experience of trying to remove a strip from the roll - here I was able to just use two fingers and waaa llaaaa the entire strip was off. The good news? No sticky residue! ... show more

Lives up to its billing. This is easily the best duct tape I have ever used. It is very strong, and it should adhere to just about anything. It is so sticky that you really have to pull to get it off the roll. Unpackaging note: It is not a bad idea to leave part of the plastic packaging in place, adhered to the sides of the roll. Those sides are quite sticky. I'm sorry I wasted my money on worthless "Duck" brand duct tape before I found the PowerSteel. ... show more

This is very good tape. It is not the strongest tape I have ever had but it is the strongest tape I can find at this time. Last year I ran out of my large supply of "Sumo Tape" that I believe was made by Loctite, unfortunately I can not find it anymore. Sumo Tape was by far the strongest tape I have ever seen, if anybody knows where it can be purchased please let me know. However this is not meant to detract from my recommendation of "Power Steel Heavy Duty Duct Tape" as it is an excellent tape and you can actually buy it, that is why I gave it 5 Stars in this review. ... show more

This is just great tape. Thick and really sticks like crazy. So very much better than hardware store duct tape you normally find. Needed something to patch a rather expensive grille cover that got torn. Cleaned the back side with some 409 and applied tape. Tear disappeared and this stuff isn't going to come off. Holy cow - do not get this near your hair or you will have to cut it off. Lesson learned. I bought this after discovering that one of my heating vents had little holes in it - only to discover where I couldn't see had a hole the size of a baseball. I was in a precarious spot, but managed to get the duct just about completely encased in this tape - which is way thicker than regular duct tape - it's almost like foam tape. The duct should be replaced, but right now, it's stronger and more secure than I imagined - and not bit of air is coming through. Yes, I bitched about the price a little when I bought it - but TOTALLY worth every penny. ... show more

I bought this in hopes of it being a heavy duty, long lasting duct tape. I was slightly concerned that it was noted to be gaffers tape (usually less adhesive than duct tape), but holy crap on a cracker, this stuff is like cement! It definitely works for what I needed. This tape is tough to cut even with sheers; it hurts to pull off if it comes in contact with your skin accidentally.. Once applied and pressed down, I think it’ll still be stuck on after the apocalypse. I certainly wouldn’t use this for a temporary job.
