  • Pretty, but XMP had Errors on Asus Maximus Extreme
Color: metallic silver
I don’t get why these modules are so popular and expensive. None of the XMP profiles worked on my Asus Maximus Extreme although these modules are listed as compatible on Asus website. Motherboard keeps crashing and won’t post. I also ran the board mentest and it failed with lots of errors. They’re only stable at 4800MHz so far, but even at that, they run extremely hot. If you are not intended to use the XMP profiles and are fine with base speeds, go for it. Otherwise, prepare to spend a long time trying out different voltages and timings and configurations. If there was no DDR5 shortage, these would be heavily discounted already. Thanks for reading and YMMV. Update January 2022: There’s a new BIOS out (v0811 or something), and as promised, I checked these modules before returning them. XMP2 worked and the system was stable, but mainboard nemtest failed as seen on the pictures. I ran the same test on the four black 6000 CL36 I also acquired, and memtest was fine on them. The black faster CAS modules also did not get as hot. Next, I’m going to try XPG 6000 @CL40. I will update the result of that on my Asus Maximus Extreme review also on Amazon. ... show more
