First off, I was looking at the Kessil, very nice, very pricey! Can't afford those! I'm using this in a freshwater set-up/ 25 gal. 30"L 12"W 17" depth The ASTA 120 has a very good output. I thought 2 of these would be needed for what plants and the size tank i have. Comes with a few different mounting options. I ordered 2 of these and 1 wasn't functioning correctly out of box. These run very hot and have an onboard cooling fan. The fan wasn't functioning on 1 of the units. I had no trouble returning this unit. These do give off some noise, hence the cooling fan. These only have 1 setting. A good improvement would be a way to dim these, because these are so powerful. None of my plants have died. I did start growing algae within a week, but that's my issue not having the aquarium balanced. Good luck with that! I'm sure there are some DIY's out there that would do the same job for cheaper price. So if your not into that, these are a good alternative. I would buy these again. Took away some stars cause of the return issue. These are China made so you'll have that. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. This product was absolutely amazing for the few hours it worked. It’s very bright, and worked wonders for my jellyfish who requires a light like this to survive. Immediately when I got my first one, it wouldn’t turn on. The bolt that came to hold it in place was too big to fit in the hole it’s suppose to go in, and the batteries in the remote were dead. It felt like a preproduction version. However, when I ordered a replacement, everything about that changed. It actually turned on, the bolt fit in its hole, and the remote actually worked. On top of all that, my jellyfishes colors immediately began improving. The shades of purple on its tentacles had begun turning white, and it started becoming less and less active. In the few hours I had this product, my jellyfish had vibrant streaks of purple on its tentacles and it was extremely active again. However, while I was readjusting the light, I noticed that the light just randomly turned off. I tried turning them back on. No luck. I checked all the cords, all of them were plugged in. I unplugged and replugged it in. Still didn’t turn on. It was dangerously close to the water, but I was sure to not let the LEDs touch the water, so this might be my fault, but the lights just wouldn’t turn on no matter what I did. I tried plugging it into the wall instead of a power strip, I tried readjusting the cord in every position I had the patience to do, and eventually I just kinda gave up. I have a backup light, but it’s not the full spectrum light that will support my jellyfish. It’s honestly really sad because of how well the lights did their job in the first few hours. They are bright, they look pretty, they have four different channels that can be turned on and off to change the level of white and blue in the tank, and they have a horrible remote control to control these channels. It feels so cheap, the methods that you use to turn up and down the channels is tedious and annoying, it’s ugly and looks like a stock remote control you can buy for $2. If you wanna buy these lights, buy them and test them and if they work for more than 48 hours buy the wifi connector. It looks a lot more intuitive and less crappy to control. The worst part about this all is that the light is about $60. Extremely disappointing for the price ... show more

    • Good light for a 6 gallon. Happy plants.(2 month update)

The light is decent, very well built and provides enough lighting for my 6 gallon, per my experiment it is able to light up to a 10 gallon, but you will need 2 of them for anything larger than that for efficient plant growth. 2 month update: I'm still happy about the ligh, but there are some cons I need to mention after 2 month of use. 1. the light gets SUPER hot after turned on for 2 hours, it burned my skin red so be careful of the heat. 2. the light has a very nerrow light source compared to the flat ones sold by ONF, nicrew or beamwork(I got those lights for other tanks). this light comes with the lense which alters lighting degree, but still, it throw a nerrow lighting. As a result, all my plants in this 6 gallon waterbox grows towards the center, compared to other tanks growing straight upwards, and the plants in the corners does not receive enough light. It doesn't bother me so much as I replanted my tank, and put some low light plants at corner. but if your already did your scape, think twice if this light is the right one for your tank. ... show more
