  • AWESOME AIR CONDITIONER
Size: 12,000 BTU Style: White Plastic
I bought this air conditioner to replace a two year old LG air conditioner that cost more than this. It cooled down the house...but it was like having a lawn mower in the room. It was so noisy I couldn't stand having it on and noise doesn't usually bother me. I got rid of the LG and bought this...It was so easy to install...it looks great...I can turn it on and off with WIFI on my phone, so by the time I arrive home the house is cool...It is whisper quiet and it gets cold. I couldn't be happier with my purchase....so happy with this air conditioner. ... show more

  • Superb, virtually silent window AC
Size: 8000 BTU Style: White Plastic
Excellent window air conditioner all around. All summer we have been using this Frigidaire. Cooling and silence are superb. The design looks high-quality. Silence is similar to the split systems we have used before. Maybe the splits were a bit louder at higher frequencies and a bit quieter at very low frequencies. There are a few "silent" window air conditioners on the market now from newer brands in the market. Since we have had good prior experiences with Frigidaire, we chose Frigidaire again. We received just the basic remote control but frankly it works fine. There is an app for mobile phones too. Tip - we used some clear packing tape around the window and over the baffles to reduce outside sound and bugs even more. If you try this, make sure any tape won't ruin the finish/windows. • I live on the coast of Maine so I don't have any real experience with air conditioners.
Size: 12,000 BTU Style: White Plastic
COLD - Sure seems cold enough. I can't stand in front of it very long. It's like sitting in a freezer with the fan pointed at me. SWING - only goes up and down. I was actually hoping for side to side QUIET - Right in front of it it sounds like wind. Can't hear it down the hallway or in the bedroom at the other end of a 44x24 split level house. I'd say very very quiet. It does make a very distant almost imperceptible rumble when the compressor starts up, like a truck starting up the road way off in the distance. You forget it's there in the same room WEIGHT - same weight as a little 6000btu unit we own, a little over 50lbs WIFI - Need Android 8.0. Unfortunately doesn't work for me and I'm not upgrading my phone so I may return the unit. That was a big part of what sold me on it. CONTROLS - Everything seems to work as described except we'll probably never use the timer GAPS - There were a couple of strange gaps between the wings and the bottom of the casing that I had to plug with foam because you could literally see outside thru them. No biggie. We've run it a couple of days and so far and I was very pleased. Not sure if it would take care of our whole house in 90 degree temps but didn't really expect it to do that, in the 80's it did fine. You all would know that better than me. I would say if you don't care about the wifi controls or the fact that it is a bit more expensive, it's a really nice machine 7/28 Post Note: I've decided the connectivity isn't really that important to us. Gonna keep it. I love this thing. It's so quiet. I did get a little little 5000btu unit for the other end of the house and I couldn't be more pleased. (I really should have waited though but got it brand new for $75 at a silent auction - couldn't pass it up since I was thinking about it anyway) ... show more

  • Excellent technology, inexcellently implemented (read for details and recommendations)
Size: 12,000 BTU Style: White Plastic
Inverter ACs are awesome. Like inverters should be mandated on all ACs by x date, awesome. And this AC is very good at lowering power. Even on the 12k, the adjustment is smooth and quiet. When the compressor starts to move it makes a soft rumble, like a helicopter coming up over a distant ridge. You can even control it a bit by adjusting the fan speed. So when you want less cooling, run it on low (less watts) and when you want more cooling, run it on medium/high/auto (m/h measure the same watts). Compressor power is also affected by the difference between set temperature and room temperature. Like if you set it to 70 and the room heats up to 69, it will gently start running the compressor to slow down the temperature increase, genius. When the room is already 85, it pushes much harder, automagically. This variability is so good (the 12k can run at under 100w!), I don’t know why they bother making three models any more. Just design one model with a room size % adjustment and sell it as universal 1000-12000k. One way this could work is as a percent power button on the front panel with up/down and 5 10 15 20 25 30 etc right on the display + options in the app, with and without scheduling. 30% drying your small room to much, change to 35%. Not drying enough, change to 25%. But there is a 3rd variable that also affects compressor power, outside temperature. On a hot afternoon in the summer this works great. If its 110F outside you get huge power and huge cool. And this is how it was designed. But thats not why you pay extra for a big inverter AC. You pay extra for an inverter so you can use it while you’re sleeping. Which happens at night. When its cooler outside. So when you turn it on at 6 or 8pm to pre cool the bedroom on a mild day, even set to 60F/high will only yield about 600 watts of power. This doubles the amount of time a 12k needs for precool. So instead of taking 2 hours, it takes 4, so I have to schedule it to start at 6pm instead of 8 or 9pm. If percentage compressor power can’t be implemented, I’d at least like to see expanded modes: fan/eco/dry/heat/cool/precool. Set or schedule PRECOOL so it runs at full (100%) power (with appropriate fan speed). Then have it automagically switch to eco/inverter low mode after the first cycle that it reaches the set temperature. I’d even settle for scheduling a manual precool period, if it was offered in the app. BTW, the new app is a big improvement. But it also has a new limitation. Unlike the old app, it requires every ON to be paired with an OFF. Not a big deal, except the OFF also takes up limited slots in the scheduler itself. So you can only have two on/off pairs. I like to run three schedules per day (precool, sleep, day - see photos for examples). This creates six on/off pairs, which produces an error when you try to add numbers 5 and 6. Then again, I wouldn’t need three schedules if there was a self changing precool mode. Extra tip: to see how hard the compressor is currently working, connect it to something like a kill-o-watt, Wemo Insight or attach a thermometer to the grill and compare the output temperature to your ambient temperature (B07DQNFJVL shown) ... show more
