  • Great product from a reliable brand
Size: 5,000 BTU Mechanical Controls
I have been using the Frigidaire FFRA051WAE air conditioner for a few weeks now. So far I would say it is a good air conditioner at a great price. It is much smaller and lighter than my previous air conditioner but still very powerful. This specific model weighs 40lbs. I use this AC unit to cool a small bedroom and the 5000 BTUs is plenty. My room gets extremely cold in an hour running on the High Cool 7 setting. Helpful tip - if you want your room to stay cold at night and the overnight temperature is going to dip into the 50s, run the AC for 1-2 hours on the High Cool setting before the temperature drops below 60 degrees, then shut it off for the night. If you install some cheap insulation foam on your windows and doors your room will stay cool much longer. Never run a window AC when the temperature outside is below 60 degrees because it can freeze up the unit. I ran my previous air conditioner everyday in the summer and never knew why it kept shutting off on its own on cold nights. I thought there was a short in it. There must have been an internal chip failsafe that kept my old air conditioner from destroying itself... this is why it still works to this day. This Frigidaire air conditioner was relatively easy to install right out of the box and fit securely in my window. The only tool I needed was a philips screwdriver. A handy person could probably install this AC unit by themself in about 10 minutes. Two notable mentions from the installation manual... the 5/16" pitch is built in to the design of the AC unit so no need to worry about doing it yourself. Pitch is the backward tilt which causes water to exit the back of the machine and drain to the outside. In step 1 on page 2 they mention placing the unit on the floor to install the side panels but what they don't specify is that you must place the unit on its back to do so. To get the accordion panels in place lay the air conditioner on its back with buttons face up and slide each panel through the 4 holes on each side. You'll know when you've done it correctly. I almost didn't buy this air conditioner due to the negative reviews about it not cooling and/or breaking right away. Am starting to think that people give too much weight to negative product reviews these days. Electronics are generally tested before sale and rarely fail right out of the box. Paying extra on an extended warranty is betting on your electronic to fail which is almost always a losing venture. It's also worth noting that most people never leave positive reviews on any items they buy, they only leave a review if something is wrong with it. This behavior highly skews product reviews in a negative way. My main complaint regarding this Frigidaire air conditioner is that there is no built in timer. But that would likely have raised the price closer to $300. My old air conditioner had a timer but was very heavy and much harder to install. There are timers online you can buy that should work with air conditioners. But as mentioned previously if you insulate your room properly you can probably get by running this AC unit for just an hour or two most nights. My only other complaint is a minor one. I leave my air conditioner plugged in and turn the unit on and off on a daily basis. I would much rather have push buttons on an air conditioner than a knob that you turn that could eventually break off. Final note: When I first got this Frigidaire air conditioner it did not produce super cold air immediately right out of the box. I believe it took a few hours. This is something to keep in mind. Just because an air conditioner doesn't get super cold instantly doesn't mean it's broken. ... show more

  • A bit loud, but Sturdy and Efficient.
Size: 2024 6,000 BTU Electronic Controls
This is a great choice to cool down a bedroom or small living space. For many nights, I had to sleep in temperatures 73° and above, with it sometimes getting into the 80s. I couldn’t tolerate it anymore, so after installing this unit in my window, it works like a charm. After about 30 minutes of running, my ≈125 sqr foot room can drop about 6-7°, leaving it around 66°. Very nice, but I avoid running it at night as it can disturb sleep with it’s loud operating noise, but most air conditioners have noise problems, so I can’t get mad. Also, the side panels do have a couple small cracks and crevices that bugs and insects can potentially get through, but they are very small. Overall, this is a great unit. ... show more

  • Good, but only on max setting
Size: 5,000 BTU Mechanical Controls
For starters, it's a good ac. It definitely cools the room down. That being said, it only REALLY cools down the room on max setting and then it's an Arctic, so for temperature control, it's lacking. Installation was easy enough and depending on window you may only need one person. For a window unit, it's pretty quiet. It does make some odd noises sometimes but I haven't had issues with function. Personally, I've enjoyed it and it's kept me nice and cool for the summer. The only reason it only gets 4 stars is again, the temperature control. It's pretty light for what it is and does a good job for the price. ... show more

  • Reliable little guy
Size: 5,000 BTU Mechanical Controls
I bought one of these in August 2021 for my bedroom, it’s moved with me three times in the last almost three years now. I only use it for my bedroom and it does a great job keeping it cool and has been for the past 3 years now. Big note, make sure to clean the filter every once and a while, especially if you run it to death like I do (running it under really hot water does a good job at getting the particulates out of there). Surprised it’s lasted this long honestly because I run this thing all the time. I like to be very cold when sleeping and I like the white noise this thing provides although some may not. I run it year round, high cool at 7 whenever the ambient temperature is above 60 degrees. I even run it in the winter when it’s below zero degF on the fan setting because I like the noise. This guy has been through snow storms, pouring rain, extreme winds, and somehow is still kicking. Three years later and it still packs a punch and keeps my room cool, and the price point is great for the value. Might not be fancy but in my opinion is the most reliable air conditioner I have ever had. Definitely worth the money. UPDATE as of 07/03/24: I bought another one of these for my apartment and it worked great until my apartment caught fire from an adjacent house a week after I bought it. The new one got destroyed by the fire unfortunately, but the one I bought in 2021 somehow survived the fire, smoke, and water damage and still works now in yet another apartment. Starting to think that it is invincible. ... show more

  • Excellent Window Unit
Size: 5,000 BTU Mechanical Controls
The A/C unit is lightweight, easy to install and works very efficiently. The new interior design creates minimal draining outside the window. The condensation water is splashed back on to the Condenser to keep it cool and prevent overheating, causing a more efficient operating system .

  • Great Value for the Money
Size: 5,000 BTU Mechanical Controls
We are very pleased with this unit. It cools very well, even in extreme conditions. We find it very quiet compared to other units we've had. We have extreme heat warnings nearly every single day and this little unit still keeps us cool. It was easy to install and the controls work well.

  • Pretty Decent!
Size: 2024 6,000 BTU Electronic Controls
Works like a charm. Needed a super small AC ASAP and this did the trick! Came in less than 1 day and it truly packed a cold punch. A little loud but it doesn’t bother me, can’t wait to see how it holds up when the temp hits 90 again
