There are only 2 of us and once I open a 16 oz package of bacon just to cook a few slices for breakfast, I would use a zip lock bag to keep the remaining fresh. However, once I would go back for more bacon, it was questionable as to whether it was safe to eat and I would just have to toss in the trash. I then began making the entire package when opened and would store the remaining cooked bacon in a zip lock bag which did seem to keep it fresher, but a lot of the strips would break into pieces. I saw these containers and loved the size which is perfect for a pound of raw thick sliced to store until wanting to use some. I still cook more than needed at one time because we like bacon on other sandwiches as well, so I store the raw in one container and the cooked in another. These containers can be used for many items but it is nice that the length is perfect to keep the raw meat fresher without squishing it into a shorter storage bin. Highly recommend. Nothing worse than dealing with the greasy bacon package that is not resealable. You try wrapping it in plastic wrap and its sloppy and not tight.
