as owners of the new nintendo 3ds, our biggest struggle is getting any accessories for our internationally snubbed game system. unless we're willing to spend $40+ on branded cover plates, we have to pray that we don't get juked on resale sites with multiple bad reviews. so, for you, fellow new nintendo 3ds owners, consider the fruits of my desperation! this has such a high star average compared to the few nightmare reviews that are so highly rated, so i was more curious about these plates than anything. when i bought them i'd accepted that they probably wouldn't be the same color as my console(especially since mine is discolored, as all of ours likely are), and would have some manufacturing errors that i'd have to shave off or MacGyver with double-sided tape. beggars can't be choosers! so upon receiving them, i wasn't expecting much. but i must not have been as unlucky as some of the other reviewers, because my plates came in great condition! clearly they're not exact replicas of the originals - the color is a little off and the washers are plastic instead of metal, but they're solid replacements for an unobtainable product. i had no issues clipping and screwing them in, even though some of the clips are just the slightest bit too wide - i tested their durability by (gently) tossing my 3DS on my bed and into my bag and pocket, and both the top and bottom plates stayed put. if the clips bother me in the future, it would be a quick fix to sand down the sides, especially since the plastic is malleable. overall i'm very pleased with these, and i hope this seller's QA team keep up the good work in the future. ;) ... show more

    • Doesn’t match the N3DS
It’s a standard N3DS faceplate. Contrary to another review I saw, mine arrived with the screws already in the plate. So now I have an extra set of screws, I guess. I purchased this plate as a base for various stickers (mostly 3D “bumpy” stickers rather than paper) and they went on fine, with no sliding or loss of adhesion like you get with some plastics. A few of them fell off, but it was only one brand of stickers, so it’s safe to say it was the stickers’ fault and this plate takes lightweight adhesives very well. My one problem with the plate is that it doesn’t match the shade of the white N3DS itself. The N3DS is more like a bone color (#FFFAF0 ish) whereas this plate is just white (#FFFFFF). All in all it’s a good quality plate if you’re planning to modify it in any way (I assume that’s why most people buy it), but if you’re wanting a match for your N3DS, give it a pass. Actual product looks cheaper than pictured. Top panel wouldn’t fasten to one side of the 3DS at all. Broke it in the attempt to heat and reshape it.

For the mostpart I like these face plates, but they were not what I was expecting and I want to make sure that others don't have the same expectations that I did. They are a different shade of white than the white "new" 3DS so when they are applied it makes the system look a little dull compared to the vibrant face plates. Also the packaging was strange where instead of being in the blister packs like other face plates they arrived in a plastic bag wrapped in bubble wrap. The packaging was fine for shipping, and they arrived in good condition but the odd packaging made me wonder if maybe these are third party face plates or something. Aside from the unexpected aspects of this product, they fit perfectly and look nice overall. Plus you really can't beat the price point especially considering what other face plates are sold for these days. ... show more
