I really liked the easy process of getting the software and driver installed, registering the product, really everything was just quick and seamless. Very impressive. (Windows 11) And the interface itself was really easy to get up to speed. Probably because I've been using an interface for a long time, that helps. My previous interface was an old Line 6 UX2, which I never had any issues with. But this Scarlett 4i4 is superior for sure. Number of inputs: Since I have 5 separate XLR cables coming from various amps, Torpedo Captor X, etc, I really wanted to have at least 5 XLR inputs. But that was just going to be too expensive and not really necessary. I ended up getting a mixer with 6 XLR inputs, then it has 2 balanced outputs to the Scarlett 4i4. This is working awesome for me. My previous audio interface no longer had driver support, and I wanted 4 inputs for the convenience of being able to have my microphone AND synthesizer plugged in at the same time. With this, I was able to get rid of some extra cables and a small mixer. Hooked up, it met every expectation I had, and then some. What I hadn't counted on was how GOOD it would sound. From the quality of recording, to the output into my monitors, and even the headphone preamp blow away the equipment I'd been using. Top notch gear. Worth the money. ... show more

I have used many of the Focusrite products from the Clarett series to the Scarlett Solo, 2i2, 4i4, and the larger interfaces as well. The 4i4 is my go-to portable studio device. The 4th gen version of this device is a welcome upgrade that increases the output of the headphones port which is the primary monitoring output that I use every day. I was very excited for this since a friend let me borrow his older gen. I bought it in March and then ran into some life emergencies so was only able to open it up this week. The USB light flashes indicating insufficient power (despite being connected to the provided 5v adapter. Manual says it should also be able to draw enough power simply from the USB to computer. Neither work. I was able to get it to work by buying my own USB-C wall plug, and that solved it. And now that doesn't work either. This is 100% the device and not the cords, outlets, etc. I'm very very disappointed with this expensive red brick. ... show more

I am not sure why this interface does not provide an on/off button. It has to be unplugged to turn off. They also ask to be allowed to penetrate the firewall. They expect it to be constantly hooked up to your PC with access through the firewall. I don't like it. The interface is fine otherwise.

First thing out the box device looked surprisingly plain and cheaply made, specifically Push Buttons, Volume Knobs, very Plain Look and Feel, compared to my 5 year old Steinberg (Yamaha) UR44 (don't prefer on new MacBook). ie. Six Push Buttons on Front Panel closely resemble button design on my $20 Food scale and Volume Knobs are small and can Spin Continuously either direction ie: no stops (no min-Max marker). Most significantly was the Power Supply PLUG would not seat securely into 5V Port, while the other included usb-c cable did fit, neither cable was marked with typical Symbol though symbol picture was on box where cable stored. Had high expectations for this product, but was very disappointed with these things, maybe I'm too traditional, It's just not worth almost $300 to me, so will return. ... show more
