Bought this to replaced a large T5 fixture on my 75 gallon aquarium. I had switched from salt to a freshwater planted tank. The old fixtures was large and loud (several large cooling fans). It has a very low profile and is very light. The extender arms makes it easy to "attach". It is very bright. The app does take a little gets used to, if you want to make adjustments from the presets. The fixture itself does get a little warm. Not burning hot, but it can be a little surprising when you touch it. Really like the programmability. The old T5 fixture did have timers built-in, so it could do a day-night cycle, but no where close to the extent this does. Before it was basically time on/time off for each of the 2 array of 3 lights, plus some moonlight leds. This will let you control the color and intensity of all the lights and have them adjust up or down throughout the day. ... show more

Ok. It’s pricey. But not that different from other options. The control options with app are the selling point for me. It’s WiFi only though. Can’t adjust the lights while on vacation. I have a custom program with multiple adjustments through the day. Decent sunrise / sunset event. No sudden changes. Then exported to all my other aquariums. Happy with purchase. ... show more

These lights have pretty much everything you need in an aquarium light. The app that controls the lighting is, perhaps, the best one out there. It has plenty of power to grow most any plant in your tank although especially deep tanks may require 2 lights (true of any light). I have them on 125, 90, and 29, and 20 long gallon planted tanks as well as on a 40 gallon planted turtle tank and a 60 gallon lowboy axolotl tank. I don't need the power for the last two applications but the adjustability of the lighting makes them perfect for those specific uses. Some people will say they are expensive and compared to cheaply made lights they are, but they will hold up and keep doing what they are built to do. They hit the sweet spot on a cost/value curve. While they are a good value, you can light your aquarium for less if saving money is your goal. ... show more

I gave 5 Stars for “brightness” because I had to turn the light down to 23% power. It is over a 33 gallon long tank so I only need to cover 12 inches of depth. It has plenty of power for the deepest 4 foot tank. I gave 4 Stars for “value” because the build quality is good, it looks good and it’s a Fluval product which have always worked for me. 1 Star taken cause it could always be sold cheaper. I gave 3 Stars for “ease of use” because the App is total trash in my opinion. I’m not gonna sit here and type for an hour about the simple and obvious functions missing from the app because I don’t have time for all that. But in my opinion the app is horrible. With all that said I would and will be purchasing more of these lights for a couple other tanks…… and maybe Fluval will catch on one day about all the horrible reactions to their app. ... show more

    • Bright Light Does Not Adjust for Daylight Savings

Ordered this light for a 55 gallon planted aquarium and am pleased. The light housing is very sturdy and well built. The light and housing and transformer do get warm when on full bright, but not hot enough that they can't be touched or affect the water temperature. I like the different settings that can be programmed using the app and that I don't have to remember to turn it on or off. It did not adjust automatically to daylight savings time and there isn't any instruction on that or how to reset it after a power outage. After a quick internet search, it seems you just have to open the app and reconnect the light to the app and it will update to your phone's time settings, but that information would have been nice to have out of the box. ... show more

In regards to lights for your tank, this is by far the best i've owned. It's been almost a month and i've seen more photosynthesis in my plants than my Finnex 24/7. The app is literally the best for customizing the lights you want during different growth cycles. The bluetooth connected app let's you create 4 manual pre-set lights so you can select during certain times of the day or a setting for when you have company to show off the tank. It has a pro mode which you create what you want the light to be at certain times of the day. If you run CO2, you can coincide the timer with this for a perfect and consistent set up daily. You really get a lot of bang for the buck here. Do not sleep on this product. If you are going to hang LED's from the ceiling, go ahead. This does what those do just as well and for cheaper. Beginner to advanced planted aquariums need this more than any other light out there. Tip: Using the app, lower the blue light to about 8% while your plants are beginning to grow tall. It will reduce the amount of algae that grows. When your plants are nearing the top, turn it back up to about 30% max. This app makes it possible. ... show more
