    • Pregnant in my 3rd trimester and I have energy!!
In my 3rd trimester and i have energy to keep up with my 2 other children. I have been telling everyone how awesome this product is. My midwife and doctor both have recommended this to me and I cannot believe how quickly and efficiently it works. Buy it, you won't be sorry (or so I hope) Before: I was told I was about a 9 on the iron scale (if you had a blood draw you know what that means). I couldn't make it up the stairs without heavy breathing. I couldn't make dinner, I went to bed early and took multiple cwt naps during the day. I don't do any of that anymore. I can make dinner, go up and down the stairs, I couldn't co simple things like change bed sheets, laundry, loady groceries, without be totally exhausted afterwards. I also have been short of breath for months. After: I can do all my daily chores, keep up with my children, not fall asleep at 7pm, don't need multiple naps ( but hey I'm pregnant and I still do take them because I can). The second day after taking my doses I cleaned my fridge out, today I cleaned the back deck up, made dinner and dessert, had people over. No more shortness of breath. I feel like a new woman! My husband said "you can buy as much of that stuff as you want". Pros: it gives me more energy, easy to order, price is better than in health food stores, easy to measure doses, doesn't clog up the ol' pipes (if ya know what I mean). Cons: must be refrigerated, must remember to take 30 minutes before you eat, don't recommend taking At night because it gives your energy (think restless let syndrome for us pregnant gals) Neutral: the taste doesn't bother me. Tastes like a strong pear/prune juice. To me, the taste I can do because of how helpful it has been. The cost is 'almost' prohibitive. It's totally worth it to me.     • Excellent alternative to horse pills!
I first came across a write up about this product in a fertility book called "Making Babies," which I think every women of reproductive age should read. As a lifelong anemic, I am thrilled to find an iron supplement that does not make me gag, either due to its size or taste. I remember my mother giving me horrible tasting black liquid as a child, presumably some sort of fishy derived iron supplement and I thought for sure this is what I was in for, especially after reading some questionable reviews concerning the taste. Iron pills give me horrible constipation, even the ones labeled "non constipating." I was a bit nervous about trying this because I was totally expecting the same result. I am happy to report that I have never experienced constipation or other other negative side effects from taking Floradix. Even the taste is surprisingly pleasant. Don't get me wrong, I'd prefer to drink champagne but there is absolutely nothing gut wrenching about the taste. I actually mix it with diluted orange juice and use it to swallow my other horse pill vitamins. There is no iron after taste this way. I would recommend taking it with Vitamin C, to increase iron absorption. There are B Vitamins in Floradix but not Vit C. I am a bit surprised about that, actually. I also read a complaint from someone claiming the bottle was too difficult to open. Obviously, that must be different than the bottle I am using. I purchased the 8.5 oz bottle, which is much larger than I had anticipated and the cap is twist off, like that of a snapple bottle. I do like the fact that it comes in a glass bottle, as I hate to have things sitting in plastic unless absolutely necessary. ... show more
