  • Great first 3D printer
Size: Adventurer 5M
I bought this printer as a 3D printing newbie hoping for something that's both a good entry level printer and has good performance for small-ish electro-mechanical projects. I think I found it. What I like - - It's a refined, finished product. Most 3D printers seem to have a lot of tweakiness about them. I'm using the slicing software Flashforge provides and the preset slicing setups and all have given pretty decent first quality prints - A plate that seems to stick down PLA and PETG prints pretty well - Related to the first point, the software is easy to use, the printer is easy to set up, and the touchscreen utilities easy to use - Wifi downloading of files - no USB drive - The extruder moves in both X and Y directions, and the table in the Z direction. Some printers shift the work left and right. This seems more stable and repeatable - Built in leveling and vibration correction algorithms - Ability to upgrade this to an enclosed printer using an acrylic kit and print-it-yourself brackets - Excellent tech support. Unfortunately my printer failed within the first few weeks - one of the sensors that determines the x-y home went bad. When I emailed support I had a response within an hour. I had replacement parts and full instructions within a few days and I'm back up and running. It's pretty good tech support for a consumer printer. - Readily available parts - replacement print plates, different sized nozzles, etc. What hasn't been so great - The firmware freezes up from time to time - I don't get the manual positioning settings menu. It doesn't always go where I think it should - Kinda dark - wish it had a light in the work area - Early hardware problems - but quickly remedied by great tech support - Touchscreen is kinda sensitive to hitting the right spot on small icons - DIY enclosure kit shown on the website isn't available for purchase yet All in all I'd buy this one again. It's less expensive than many, easier to use than resin, less experimental and tweaky than other filament printers. The company stands behind their product. ... show more

  • Fully enclosed 3D printer printing right out of the box
Size: Adventurer 5M Pro
Fully enclosed, minor setup to start printing. I would have given this 5 stars but... The only thing I've seen as an issue so far is that while the wired networking does work (was able to pull a firmware update right after the calibration completed) Sortware doesn't see it on the network to print to. I can ping it fine, but doesn't appear to have enough of a file structure to be able to add/remove files to/from the onboard storage. One thing I did appreciate about this one is that one of the onboard files is a stylus for the led screen. Printed that and now the screen is much easier to navigate. Will update if/when I find out more about the local file system on the printer and network accessabiliity. ** Update ** Come with a flash drive with their Orca-Flashforge software that you can use to print across the network. Lets you use the internal camera to watch the build from anywhere on the network. Updated to 5 of 5 stars! ... show more

  • Really Good Budget Core-XY
Size: Adventurer 5M
Took advantage of the sale and decided to get one of these Adventurer 5M's. I've only had it for a few days, but I'm loving it so far. The printer is very solid and fairly compact for its size. print quality is good, though I think Orca Slicer is the only slicer program that currently has a preset for the 5M series - so use that. The UI on the display is clear and very intuitive, though the touch screen is pretty cheap, so its not as sensitive or responsive as you may be used to. Really the only other con against it is that it's fairly loud when running, at least compared to some other machines out there. Things of note: make sure to wash the bed with dish soap and warm water when you set the printer up, and avoid touching it as much as possible. Before each print, remember to run levelling. I've seen some people have struggled with bed adhesion on their printers, so these have helped, and I don't even need to use glue. If you want a budget Core-XY machine, overall this is a great buy so far, with amazing value - even at full price. ... show more
