These work perfectly on my propane camping stove and my propane lantern. I love that they can be refilled easily from a 20lb tank which saves me a ton of money. I can refill these for under $1.00 a shot, the disposable tanks are now going for about $5 OR $6 each so this pays for itself pretty quickly I have already refilled the tanks about 3 times each so when you do the math after you refill them 4 or 5 times you have more than broken even. Now it does require a special filling system but again even after adding that cost in I figure after 7 or 8 fills I will break even. Plus the fact they are safe and legal to refill is a serious plus. You can tell these are made better than the disposable tanks, and the fact that 99% of places can't recycle the disposable tanks, these keep TONS of metal waste out of the landfill. So this comes out as one of the few eco-friendly options that I have found that actually saves you money pretty quickly. ... show more

    • EXPENSIVE, But... ROI In 2 - 4 Refills. Save $$$ Afterward With $1 - $1.50 Refills. Recommend.

Purchased a 2-pack on 10-26-2023 for $18.82. *Note that this was a pricing SNAFU by Amazon. Didn't last long. Normal pricing runs about $34 +/- for a 2-pack. I got tired of paying for OVERPRICED 1 pound propane gas cylinders. The pricing has ballooned in the last 15 years. Why are they so expen$$$ive now? It's ridiculous. Anyhoo... High cost was the catalyst, but I also wanted to help minimize the landfill footprint of 1-pounders, too. The "disposable" cylinders must be disposed of properly. You can't just throw it in your regular trash bin or your recycle bin. These are considered HAZMAT; they must be disposed of at a recycling center that accepts hazardous waste. Also, some propane companies take used cylinders, so check if your provider is an option. Fortunately, many campgrounds now have bins just for disposable cylinders, both propane and butane, so you may not need to bring them home to figure out where/how you need to dispose them. Can't single-use 1-pounders be refilled and reused? Yes, BUT... First of all, they're meant to be used ONCE, then disposed, that's why they're referred to as "disposable." As such, the material and construction are not as robust as that of reusable cylinders that are designed to withstand repeated refilling and reuse. - The gauge of steel on the single-use is thinner. - The weld seams are not heavy duty. - The pressure relief valve is certified as being safe for a single use. That means that it's NOT tested and certified for refill(s) and reuse(s). - There is no manual bleeder valve to prevent/relieve overfilling. So what...? 1. Over the long term, condensation (both internal and external) may corrode and weaken the walls and weld seams. If it's weakened too much, the canister may rupture, sometimes explosively. Luckily, this is rare, but it does happen. Are you willing to take the risk? 2. Without a bleeder valve that can function to signal that a cylinder has been refilled to the proper, safe level (80%), you may OVERFILL with WAY TOO MUCH propane. What happens when you fill a balloon with too much air? It pops. What happens to a cylinder on a hot day when the OVERFILLED liquified propane E+++X+++P+++A+++N+++D+++S and exerts pressure beyond what is safe, particularly if the walls/seams may have been corroded and weakened? Not a pop, but a BOOM. 3. It's against the law (U.S. DOT) to transport refilled single-use cylinders. It's not like you'll get a visit from the Enforcement Division of the U.S. Department of Camping, but if you're on your way to a camping trip and involved in an auto accident in which one of the cylinders ruptured... So...I bought a number of these Flame King refillable 1 pound cylinders. The initial cost isn't cheap---frankly, too EXPENSIVE---about $16 to $17 per cylinder, but disposable 1-pounders cost anywhere from $5 to $10 each, so that means that after 2 to 4 refills, you've hit ROI and break-even. Any subsequent refill, you're getting the cylinder for the price of a pound of propane. And more importantly, these reusable cylinders were DESIGNED to be refilled and reused. Better material, better construction, and SAFE for refills. Right now, you can get an empty 20-pounder exchanged for a 20-pounder filled with 16 pounds of propane. Costs anywhere from $17 to $25. That means that your 1-pounder with gas only costs $1.06 to $1.56. That's a lot cheaper than the $5 to $10 for a single-use 1-pounder. If you enjoy the outdoors and frequent camping trips, I highly recommend these. You WILL save a bunch of $$$ over the long haul. FYI, before you refill, the bleeder valve is opened partially. (Each cylinder comes with an Allen wrench for this.) When the propane is filled to the recommended level (80%), you will see propane shooting out of the valve. That's the indicator to close the valve and stop the refilling. ... show more

Okay I've used these several times now and they are fantastic. Just saw at Walmart a 4 pk for $20.00. $5.00/bottle. I can refill these for about a buck 5. And their a full 16oz. The tanks can be refilled a bunch of times and there's service parts available for rebuild if needed. I also very much appreciated the fact that I'm not throwing those Non-refillable canisters in the trash. ... show more
