    • Decent machine, however...
Background: I finished my apprenticeship in 2010 and have been tattooing ever since. I am not a social media player and sponsored by no one. I have used hundreds of machines of all types, shapes, sizes, colors and price points. That said... I bought one of these direct from FK Irons. If this was the only pen you ever used, I'd say you'd probably love it. But you still got ripped off. For the money that this thing costs, including two Powerbolts, I would expect it to be perfect and perform miracles that other machines could never ever do. Perform magic. Instantly transform any novice into a master tattoer by simply holding it while an inner light halos from the machine and ethereal music spontaneously emanates from an angelic choir. Obviously... This is not the case. Per usual, I feel FK Irons has over-hyped, over-promoted and definitely under-delivered. Is it comfortable? Yeah, sorta. Is it the most comfortable machine ever? No. Is it powerful? Yes. Yes it is. Is it the most powerful machine ever? No. Is it high quality? Yeah., but again... not that much of a cut above other more reasonably priced pieces of equipment. Could it conceivably assist you in in your craft? Of course, it's a decent tool. But will it make you a better artist? Nah, man. Just nah. I ran into this type of hype with my furniture building business as well, via the social media sponsorship practices of Festool. Bravo for mass manipulation by way of giving away a few tools to influencers to convince the masses that you've created perfection... but also shame on you for way, way, way overpricing a lot of your mediocre stuff This is a nice machine. The batteries are good. It's smooth and powerful. If that's enough to get you to pay double over a different and equally smooth, powerful machine with good batteries... Awesome. You do you and enjoy your machine. I returned mine because I have a sub-three hundred dollar machine that I feel is just as strong and capable, but also more comfortable. Plus, not to overstate anything obvious, but you'd be money ahead to spend more where it counts like on high quality cartridges and ink. That's my two pennies. ... show more
