I thought this net would fail considering the head and the handle joint was a pivot point. Once you've tightened the handle to the net frame solidly, it held up like a champ. It's made very well with perfect stitching that secures the net to fabric and frame. The mending of the net too is stitched very well. A plus for the net is that it's rubber coated to protect the fish from getting injured if you're doing a catch and release. The end where it connects to the main frame while twisting to lock is pretty durable and when you release the tension, you can stow it away in a folded state again. I'm not sure if the bolt that's embedded is 316 stainless steel but it appears to be some sort of stainless steel. It also has two EVA foam grips on both ends where the extension locking sleeve separates them. That's the best part of this net though that it can extend and reach out just in case your rod is too long. The two grips though serve as a way where if your fish is a bit heavy hauling it from a shoreline, at least you're not going to break your wrist just buy holding the net with only one hand. Overall, this net was well designed and thought of. My only discrepancy of the whole net just the lanyard clip which is a cheap plastic. Just switch it out with something that's a small stainless carabiner and you're good to go. ... show more

I fish on a pond boat and they are relatively limited on space. That being said the telescoping aspect of this net makes it perfect for my uses. It seems to be a sturdy net and well built. I will update this as the season goes along on how it has done. UPDATE: The net ripped through on the first fish I tried to get into it. It was a northern Pike and it was bigger than the net. The one barb of the hook got stuck in the net and the fish flopped while in the net and it ripped a huge hole in it. The net is useless now. I also noticed that as I was trying to get the fish in the net it was spinning loose and the net was folding down while I was trying to scoop up the fish. It was really solid getting the fish out of the water and that is why I only dropped one star. ... show more

I really like how the handle can fold up completely so it can be easily carried and stored when not in use. It's pretty light as well making it easy to bring with you when you're hiking through the woods to your own fishing spot. I got it primarily for trout and thus far has worked great. It's easy to expand and assemble into full size. The bottom of the net has some measuring markings in it, but that's not something I would particularly use if I had any other options available. This net is perfect for use in my kayak - it's sturdy yet lightweight, easily extendable, folds down very compactly, is coated to help avoid hurting your fish if you're releasing, and even has a ruler printed on the net. This is great for storing in a small space on the boat for take off, and then on the water you can put it together so it is ready for netting the fish. The measuring scale for length is handy for determining if the fish will go into the live well for the weigh in or if it will be released immediately, since you can easily tell the length when the fish is in the bottom of the net. We have not tested out the floatability of it but since we have already had to rescue one net when it went overboard, I can tell you that floating is going to be very helpful. ... show more

This Riverruns Fishing Net Floating Landing Net has some nice features. The best part, IMHO, is the net and frame. The rubberized net is well stitched and reinforced making it pretty robust. I think that it will hold up to any fish that will fit inside the aluminum frame. The length scale is a nice touch. The handle is also aluminum. I’m not real confident that this product will age well. The adjustable handle length has a minimal 6 inches of travel and the two plastic locking collars are going to be a weak link. Same thing for the adjustable folding net frame joint lock. These plastic parts do not inspire confidence for longevity. I have had experience with other products with similar foam grips and they will always break down and disintegrate with time and use. I predict that the service life of this net will be about three seasons before it will need to be replaced. Brand new… It is very nice and worthy of a minimum of four stars. ... show more

$25 for a telescoping (space-saving) net of this size is a great deal. It can be used in the shorter configuration, or the longer configuration depending on what and where you're fishing. Locks into position rock-solid and the netting is a rubberized material that's wider than the typical net material and shouldn't cut into a flopping fish. All-in-all this net should take care of most fishing needs other than the larger species. ... show more
