Fe-Tone® adjustable iron audio allows you to set the volume of ferrous targets lower than the volume of non-ferrous targets for increased clarity on desirable targets. GROUND-GRAB® Computerized Ground Balancing and Manual Ground Balance make it easy to tune the F44 to the soil you are hunting in. Easily identify buried targets with the 9-Segment Target Categories and a 0-99 numeric Target-ID enhanced with 4-Tone Audo-ID System. Custom made allow users to set their own tones. It is very light and easy to assemble. It is difficult to interpret signals and determine the type of metals. Also it not very specific in locating the find so more then expected digging is required.

I am a beginner. I purposely went out to YouTube to find metal detectors being used. This would help me understand the product when I get it and watch those videos and help understand how to use it better but in all honesty I guess I’m mentally challenged on many levels I guess because I still can’t figure it out with East how to use the device and understand all the sounds… Which is probably not the product issue and it’s definitely the end-user However the product does tout that it’s easy to use and I didn’t find it to be that way, but that’s just my opinion but if you do have some experience with a metal detector I’m sure you would figure out this product much faster and enjoy it a lot more than I do ... show more

After lengthy research into what metal detector to buy as a first time hobbyist, I first decided on the slightly cheaper F22 but then decided that the extra features of the F44 were worth it. It arrived quickly and was easy to assemble. The positive features of this product far outweigh any negative qualities and I have been extremely happy with it so far. The larger search coil makes finding things much quicker and was the main reason I chose this detector. If you are interested in finding items faster, it's well worth it. The pinpoint feature works pretty well, but not amazingly. It definitely gives you a clearer idea of where to look, but there's usually still a good amount of searching around. The depth that the detector searches is very good, and seems to be a maximum of about 14 inches or so, although most everything found so far has been within a few inches of the surface. Sensitivity overall is great and can detect even very small things. I really like the different search modes and the ability to adjust sensitivity easily. That all being said, I think if you are just stating out and you just want to see whether you like metal detecting or you just want to have a few hours of fun every now and then, go with the slightly cheaper option. If you are really interested in searching regularly and want something well built and reliable, with some extra features, this product will be a great choice. ... show more

In your description of this detector the Fisher F44 it stated it was good at the beach and waterproof .The truth be told once your on the sand you get a lot of false readings. Tried lowering ground forget it.just about impossible. Once on wet sand worthless. Didn't even try to go in waters edge. I would love to return it. Due to false advertising.. This unit is only good on dry land. This is what needs to be stated. ... show more

My husband got this and it has become a cool hobby for him, searching for treasure. It has some nice features like a back-lit display screen which makes it simple for you to search in dim lighting. It is also weather proof so it won't be hurt by the rain. It has brought my husband and son outdoors more and they come home with trinkets they find. Haven't found anything valuable yet, but hey who knows! The hunting is the fun part and they are looking forward to take it to historical sites. If you are looking for a fun pastime that gets you outdoors than you should consider the Fisher F44. So far it's been great fun! Amazon is the best with prices and shipping!! ... show more
