Great rod for offshore fishing and trolling, feels solid and well built, a bit on the heavy side, won't bend much for fish below 20'. It's not very sensitive on the tip, on the other hand it's strong with little flex or twist. It handles red snapper, grouper with ease, strong enough to fight a shark. ... show more

Great rod. Brought in a 7 foot 200lb sandbar. It happily swam off once the hook was snipped. It can probably land anything out there just doesn't really work with the fighting belt the bent butt's a bit to tall.

For the price I wasn't expecting a top notch rod,however I was completely wrong! I paired this rod up with a Penn senator 9.0 and this rod has hauled in some very big fish in the gulf of Mexico. I'll definitely be buying another one!
