Description

Stationary machines like hollow chisel mortises and slot mortises occupy large amount of floor space in your shop, are expensive to purchase, require a lot of setup and maintenance, and force you to bring the material to the tool. Festool has taken the revolutionary concept of the Domino joiner and made it larger, the Domino XL Joiner. The Domino XL offers a more elegant solution to the challenge of large scale joinery. Amazingly simple to use, fast and accurate. The Domino XL now complements the capabilities of the original Domino DF 500, with a maximum tenon size of about five and a half -Inch in length (140 mm). No job is too big for the Domino XL. With an expanded range of thicker, longer tenons, you will quickly and precisely join massive slabs, doors and gates, or construct the most durable of tables and beds. With the Domino XL, you’ve got a system light enough and nimble enough for use anywhere in the shop or the jobsite. When the work piece is too large to come to the machine, this makes all the difference. Precision placement of solid hardwood tenons guarantees not only a perfect fit, but a finished product that will last for generations. What's in the box? XL D12 cutter, Plug-it Power Cord, Support Bracket, Wrench and T Loc Systainer Sys 5.

  • Expensive and worth it.
Even though the first unit I purchased came broken, the replacement is wonderful. I turned an adapter on the metal lathe so I can use the bits from the smaller 500 Domino so I don't need both tools. Festool should sell an adapter like this with every XL 700. Dominos are the best advancement I've seen in the last 40 years for woodworking, followed closely by good powerful cordless tools. They are quite liberating because now you can build essentially anything you can dream up quickly and easily and you know it will be strong and the joints will fit precisely. Compound mitered joints are a snap with this tool, but conversely can be rather daunting with traditional mortise and tenon joinery. Things like chairs and benches that once seemed complicated are now easy. The design freedom is wonderful and that alone is worth the substantial investment. Yes, they are expensive, but well worth it. ... show more

  • Expensive, but very good tool
The media could not be loaded. Do I feel guilty building furniture without using traditional mortise/tenon joints? Sure, but I'm not getting any younger and the Festool connections are almost as strong. It took a few sample runs on scrap pieces of wood before I learned all the tricks needed to make quality joints. I was able to create numerous repetitive joints in very little time. The fit is tight and accurate. My only two complaints are the price and dust port. The dust port isn't a standard vacuum size. It seems I need to buy their dust collection system or track down an adapter for my dust collection system. Regardless, knowing what I know now, I'd make this purchase again. ... show more

  • This latest / larger release of the bigger and better domino allows you to do larger and strong joints
If you have never used a domino jointer this is a game changer. This latest / larger release of the bigger and better domino allows you to do larger and strong joints. I know the cost is shocking but you need to think of this as a portable tenoning machine because that's what it is. I have the original domino joiner and this is just as good and if not better than the original. The ergonomics of this machine is much better than the original. The construction is as expected from Festool - AMAZING. If I had to choose between the smaller one and this, I would choose this. There are attachments now to do the smaller dominos from 3rd party vendors. ... show more

  • Problema en el engranaje
La máquina trabajo bien, pero al igual que otra que tengo se daña el engranaje que hace girar la broca. Me parece una maquina muy costosa para que deje de funcionar en 3 años.

  • Surgical accuracy with the price to match
If you want dead nuts accuracy, it is the festool domino mortiser. You can inspect the mortise with a magnifying glass and be amazed. Only the price tag will amaze you more. as they say, you get what you pay for, and this tool is worth the price, however painful. all of the jigs available for this tool will enhance the accuracy of your jointery. Be ready to shell out prices that will leave you stunned, but your jointery will be perfect. • Love this tool
These things are pricey, but I love it. It works like a pro and the domino's fit perfectly. You could not ask for a better product other than the price. I wish I could afford all their tools, but this one set me back for a while....
