  • Perfect stand for the Kapex
The stand is lightweight, sturdy and you can pick it up with the saw attached without throwing out your back. I leave the saw on the stand to protect it while it's in the truck. The extensions are larger and heavier than they appear in the picture and they serve their purpose well. I am not a weekend warrior, I have 30 years experience with a lot of high end saws and this combination of the Kapex and this stand is the best I have used. ... show more

  • Another high quality product from Festool.
Increases accuracy 1000%. Makes the Kapex mobile and with the wings you get the accuracy you need with the built in stops.

  • If you invested into the capex, invest also into the extension
The extension is easy to install, very accurate and stable. The scale is in metric. There are great videos on you tube on what can all be done with extensions and saw, worth watching to get the most of this combo.

  • Compact Miter Stand
I bought this stand with my Kapex saw and have used it for about a year now. I'll start with what I don't like: You need to use this stand on a very flat surface or it will wobble. When I am on a job site that has uneven terrain I bring my Dewalt stand because it handles it much better. I am also not a fan of the wheels, they need to be much larger in my opinion. I use my saw in the winter and would prefer to have large air tires on it to go through the snow with. Putting the extensions in the plastic caps and strap for transport is a pain. I took a white marker and labeled how to align them to make it easier. Having it only in Metric is a pain. I would love to have an English version. Now what I like: It's light. It folds down into a very small footprint. You can transport the entire saw and stand in one trip. You can pull out the secondary extensions to align the primary extensions. The extensions are solid for full support of your workpiece. Everyone has a slightly different opinion on what a miter stand should be like and I think this one is pretty good, just not perfect. ... show more

  • So-so with some good and bad
For small shop use, need a portable miter station that I can set up / tear down as needed. Idea behind this product is good, execution is only fair. The Good: - Purpose-built for Kapex miter saw, so saw sits securely in the stand - Fairly lightweight; I'm not a pro carpenter but I could manage the weight of this setup (loading into a van/truck) - Good quality components, as expected from Festool, appropriate for the sky-high price tag The Bad: - Wings do not align level with the saw table - they sit a few mm below the saw table surface. Huh???? Doesn't seem to be a tolerance issue, as I examined the same setup at a Rockler store... same issue. Further, there's no way to adjust for this, other than maybe a makeshift shim. Since this was designed as a system, I'm puzzled why this is the case. - Pull-out extensions are held in with a knob-bolt that pokes through a bolt-size hole in the wing, and threads into a sliding T-nut that floats along the entire length of the wing. In order to line the T-nut up to the hole in the wing. you have to gradually slide the extension back in until the T-nut passes by the wing hole. Ridiculous concept. Further, if you forget to flip the extension holder out on the end of the wing to the closed position after removing the extension, that T-nut can simply just slide right out of the end of the wing and be easily lost. Festool is generally on top of stuff like this, surprising to make a brain-dead choice like this. - Wing legs are not very solid when deployed, meaning they can buckle back under too easily. This is by design, as the way the wings are brought into level alignment with the saw table is by turning a knob underneath the wing that pushes against the leg, slowly making it more (or less) vertical and thus raising (or lowering) the wing. Good in theory, but I find that all too often the leg wants to sit away from the bolt (more folded in) and so I'm always fiddling with it to make sure it's pressed against the bolt. - Saw has no table underneath, so when cutting anything at all, even with Festool dust collection (CT26E with 36mm hose), expect a bunch of wood chips/dust to drop straight down to the floor. Makes a big mess, really frustrating. Was trying to think of a way to get around this but so far, haven't come up with anything. - In the video, the Festool guy uses one hand to raise and lower the saw on the stand, with his foot on the bottom of the stand. Looks easy, right? Not so much. I find it to be a lot harder, and more awkward, than he made it look. - When the stand is deployed, there's a vertical arm that snaps into the bottom of the stand. You have to hold up the entire weight of the saw with one hand while using the other hand to align that swinging arm to the bottom snap-in arm holders. Also not nearly as seamless as the Festool video makes it look, especially if you're not on perfectly level ground. For this kind of money the stand should have a pneumatic assist or other mechanical-leverage solution so you don't have to hulk the saw around with one hand just to deploy it. - Once deployed, if you want to roll it you can tilt it backward and away you go. However, the saw is only held in place by that vertical swing-arm just described, which is press-fit into the snap-in rubber arm holders at the bottom of the stand. When you tilt the saw backwards, there's a sense that you could disengage that swing arm from its rubber snap-in holders, which if it did happen, the saw would very suddenly swing straight down towards you and potentially hurt you and/or the saw but good. In fairness, has not happened (yet), but relying on a couple of cheesy rubber snap-in holds at the bottom to ensure the stand doesn't come apart is nerve-racking to say the least. Festool should have included a pin, or a metal snap-close feature, to give confidence the stand won't pull apart at the bottom. And by the way, to fold the unit up, guess what - you simply lift up on the vertical swing arm to disengage it from those rubber holds. That tells you how easy it is to disengage that vertical swing arm. Thought about returning it, but 30 days wasn't enough time for me as I had to go tools down for a couple of weeks during the period. So it's mine now, for better or worse. Like many things Festool, more time with the tool usually results in better outcomes, probably no different here. However, for the money I would have really appreciated more thought given to the basics. ... show more

  • Great stand, very accurate and repeatable measurements.
Great stand, love the small footprint and the ease of moving it around. I have the imperial version and after calibration the stops work great for repeatable cuts. I only calibrated the extensions once and they are spot on every time. The people who complain about it being wobbly are using the wings for other things they were not designed for. It's as sturdy as it needs to be for its intended use. ... show more
