I have only been using this for a short while, and it does indeed work as directed. I have my four other hdmi devices plugged into it, and it just switches between them. I no longer have to wait for my tv to boot to switch inputs. I can switch between my xbone, switch, and ps3. While the ps3 can no longer turn the tv on it self (I think) it does still switch. So, it is still good. I have not used it with my home theature pc yet, but I barley used that thing anyways. I think it came with a remote, but I have literally never used it. ... show more

Easy to use and set up. This is the second one *I've bought, thanks to my dog chewing up the 1st hand control. Dopey dog. I'll recommend it. I had another brand a few years ago, and the dog ate that one too. That control was slow, I'd have to press the control a few times to change. But w/ this one the signal seems stronger. After extensive contact with the company and them sending a replacement a new 5 port version of the item i bought. I revise my rating from 1 to 4 stars. I can not give it 5 stars due to issues i sent to them in a letter, mainly things that can be fixed and updated simply. My issues with unit are as follows: 1- Unit is to small and light. You plug in 5 inputs and one ext hdmi cable and device goes airborne from weight of cables. I personally had to velcro my unit down in place. My suggestion, include velcro, and increase size and weight of unit to balance out versus load. 2_ The remote, its small but responsive. I wish it was bigger and took standard batteries like AAA not the disc style battery. 3- Usb power cord. Its nice just to dang short and limits your placement of unit. They should give you 45 to 60 inch cable since you maybe using a power strip a distance away from unit. My first unit just died and stopped working. This time I was scared. I hooked this one up and I had half a screen of picture. I reset my Andriod TV and reset their unit fixing the issue. I have plugged in Sony 4k Blu ray player, Sony Ps4 Pro and Xbox 1 and Pioneer multi region dvd and had Uverse TV installed also. About 3 days in I was playing online BO3 and in Multiplayer and screen went totally black. The box lost its connection from port to tv! This happened about 30 minutes into game play and happerned twice. My fix was to put PS4Pro on input 1 and the Xbox 1 on input 5. This seemed to solve the issue to this point. I have had revision this 5 port version for about 15 days in use. My last issue was not finding any device plugged into any port, very frustrating adventure! Removed items and reinstall again to solve issue. It was stuck on port 3 the empty one from me removing Uverse. So why 4 stars and not lower with the list of issues. The company and its desire to make a better product and help its clients fix the issues. Upon receiving the first email, I would get follow ups about 3 times a week asking how thintgs were going. I sent in photos and changes I would make to unit and things to add. HDMI ports are very fussy and without looking inside to see the actual parts used I cant comment on the quality of said parts. But have no fear, give them a shot, price is 20 under the one I had replaced it with and that one is now in a box in my bedroom. Why because this company works with you to fix the issue and the deserves a long evaluation and use of the product. I know if I have any issues I just send and email and it will be addressed. My overall rating 4 stars... Here is breakdown..... Customer support 5 stars... Replacement unit 3.5 stars... Willingness of business to hear ways to improve units. 4.5. Hope they make the changes in the future and look forward to trying it. ... show more

I'm using it on an old Visio TV in the bedroom that only has one HDMI. We bought a fire stick to stream so I wanted a way to switch between the stick and DirectTV box. This does the trick. I just hooked this up today and it works. I haven't checked the auto-switching yet but with the little remote not sure how often it will be used. I would give it 4 stars (4 is my highest rating as nothing is 5 stars) but the power cable is way too short. 1 star off the rating because of this. I found one that I had laying around that is longer and will work. If someone decides to buy this keep in mind where you are going to use it and how far from a power source it will be located. If it's more than 2 feet (estimating the length of the power cord) then buy a longer USB to USB micro cable. This unit does comes with a USB/wall socket brick. Looking at the photos in the description it appears it can be power by a USB port so if there is a USB port on your TV it might be able to get power from there. ... show more

    • Works Perfectly With a Clear Picture
I purchased this HDMI splitter for my parents who have two HDMI ports and three devices. I bought this particular one because of its automatic switching; the remote was a bonus. After connecting everything, the picture is perfect. The main purpose was to connect their WII directly to the TV to prevent having to unplug another device to play their games. Their WII is connected to an RCA to HDMI converter and the converter connected to the splitter. I was amazed at the clarity. It's not perfect but close enough for them! There are two things I am not as thrilled with: the remote must be pointing directly at the splitter and the splitter isn't automatically switching to the active device. I've made sure the other device is completely off but it still doesn't switch. This is what prevents me giving a five-star rating. ... show more

I bought this switcher as a way to use more devices on my old 2003-2010ish Sony TV. It only has 1 HDMI port, which is why I bought this switcher. The TV isn't, of course, 4K, but it works really well on a 720p/1080i TV. The HDCP or whatever you call it, allows my Xbox to play DVDs and Blu-Ray discs without any conflict. The remote is easy to use, it switches the source of the switcher and turns it on and off. There's only one caveat, and it's that very bright red light. Or lights. The lights are facing towards the rest of the room, so when you're watching a movie, you'll see glowing red eyes while you're eating popcorn. Not a big issue, just a reminder that's there. I would love to have a model where you can toggle the brightness of the indicator light, or have the option to turn it off completely. Or that's just me. So yeah, get this if your using Blu-Ray, DVD or any devices that use movies to prevent that pesky HDCP protection getting in the way. Beware that other switchers don't have it, and it'll prevent you from watching movies if you don't have HDCP unless you have this switcher. And don't text and drive. That isn't related at all to the product or review, but it's a friendly reminder and it'll save lives. ... show more
