  • This is a lifesaver!!!
For eight years, I have held the title of “Door Opener” for my cats. One of my cats will yowl the most God awful yowl until I open the door to let him out or in. Once he was out, I usually spent an hour or two before bedtime trying to find him and get him back in. My breaking point was a morning a few weeks ago when I climbed up on my roof in order to retrieve a cat and I was about an hour late to work. Thankfully, everyone at work knows how insane I am about my cats so being late wasn’t a big deal. But it was starting to bother me. Cue the Amazon search for a solution. I live in an apartment complex with a sliding glass door that leads out into a second floor balcony. My cats love sunning on the balcony but I hate the constant opening and shutting of the door. After ordering this door, it took a few days for delivery and only a few minutes to install it. The cats caught on pretty quickly and they now let themselves in and out whenever they want. For the first week or two of having this door, I didn’t know what to do with myself with the extra time I had on my hands from not roaming around my complex in my jammies at midnight, calling for my cats. I love this product and wish I had found it years ago. The picture is my little girl kitten trying to figure out how to get back inside. She now runs in and out constantly and loves the freedom as much as my older cats. ... show more

  • Nice door but not without flaws
The door is exactly what I wanted. I didn't want to have to screw things in through my patio door even though I own my home, more esthetic reasons. I love the size of the door and the look of the white perfectly matches my patio door. I have two yorkies and it took one all of 10 minutes with the offering of treats, no problem. The second one, took 2 days. I pushed and prodded with no success. Finally, I left her outside for a while and then went out and pushed her through again. Tried this a few more times, she still didn't get it. Then after the fourth time, she didn't like being put outside, she decided to try it and come in!! Yay!! She still was a little hesitant for a while, but finally figured she could get in the yard by herself and would go out all on her own! Success and no further worries. The door is beautiful as stated, color matches perfectly. However it took some doing to get it into my door. It was extremely tight and we had to tilt it alongside the patio door to squeeze it in, I almost thought it wasn't going to fit. Once we got it in, we slid it up against the side of the and tightened the screws at the top. They don't tighten enough and any little pressure against the door the door slips and we have to readjust it. If these adjuster would make the top secure against the top of the inside of the frame this door would be perfect. I'm not sure how some heavy rain the heavy wind blowing sideways kind and whether this will hold up and not have any leaking. I'll have to update later. As far as daily use, it works as it should and adjusting the door slightly here in California weather is not that bad for me to send it back. I love that there was weather stripping included for the patio door as it sealed against the dog door. Also the clear weather stripping on the back side of the patio door since there is no longer that seal, the weatherstripping was easy to put on and stays very well so far (it's been about a month); only problem is that opening the door this strip does make a little squeaking noise. Nothing I can't live with for the need of the dog door for me. I love the door that seals the flap when I want the dogs to stay outside for a while, or I don't want them going outside. Either way, it's nice to have a way to shut the door for whatever purpose you need. The biggest downside to this door is using the screen door on the patio door. If you want to open your patio door to get some fresh air, you close the screen door, and that will close off the dog access as now your screen blocks it! UGH!!! Biggest headache for me! I get great crosswind from that direction and now if I want air, then the dogs can't get out, if it's cold/winter, then no problem as you won't have the glass door open. Another problem is that I can no longer lock my patio door. There is a lock that comes with in the box, you'll need to screw into the frame of the patio (something I didn't want to do). Regardless, we couldn't figure it out and how it works. So not using it and now looking to cut a piece of wood to stick in the tract to be able to have some sense of security and blocking access to outsiders. Otherwise, I've been looking at other options, a piece of wood to put in the track, or purchasing something else to stop access (more $$). So lots of benefits and a few problems. You'll have to determine if you can live with it. Over time, I'm hoping I can train the dogs to our large dog door through the wall (it's a double flap, so a little challenging for the little ones), then I can take this one down. As I said, it works for its purpose, but the non-access when using my screen door is the biggest thing I'm not happy with. Have to find a solution for that. The tightness of the screws at the top, not sure thats a defect, seems to work, just not to make it tight enough. The lack of super tightness I can live with, using my screen door is not. So eventually as I said, hoping for success with the other door eventually. ... show more

  • She did It! 80.3 AL Panel in the Screen Door Opening
Yes! So Pleased!! This had to work with the patio screen door because........of the KittyWalk System for the CAT! Ms Kitty had to get into the System from the house at the screen door; about a 6" gap. There had to be a tunnel between the Panel's (5x7) opening and the existing opening in the System . So.....with weather stripping to snug the screen door to the Panel and curtain spring rods top and bottom to snug the Panel to the existing door frame and the Panel's own spring adjustment to snug north to south.......I was in business. So old CV '19 gave me time to think and ponder and think. The glass door functions and locks and the screen door......still screens! Oh! You want to know about the tunnel? I "Macgyvered" two rectangular ice cream buckets into a sturdy tunnel walkway. ... show more

  • Cat approved!
This is a great product. I think it will take a bit of adjusting to get it to properly fit your specific patio door, but once it’s fitted and secured, it’s perfect. I have three cats, two are 16 years old, and one that’s 3 years old and partially blind. They have used cat doors for years, and this new door was a simple transition. I did add the gray foam weatherstripping tape, but that is easily available and inexpensive. ... show more

  • Most return on investment, very solid choice
The dog figured it out with one treat session, the cat is still getting it down 1 week later. The door is a great choice for the low price, and the lightly used version I purchased seems perfectly new. Doesn't work with the screen door (as opposed to the sliding glass door) and requires some creative use of weather strip and flaps in order to bug-proof for screen door use. We're still figuring the bug-proof part out, utilizing a separately purchased long roll of soft but thick weather strip and 3" silicone flaps (3" includes a 1" adhesive portion.) My dog is 15 pounds of wonderful and cannot gain weight if she wants to keep fitting through the small sized door. So far very happy with the purchase. ... show more
