Likes: easy to install and the glass looks like it is tinted and not see through. sturdy enough if installed correctly and my dog is 60 lbs. Dislikes: there will be very small gaps that air can pass through, it was easily resolved by putting a half an inch rubber foam tape. the locks on the original sliding door became useless, but we use a security bar instead. ... show more

Easy to install and sturdy. This is the LARGE opening (10"x15" flap) door that adjusts from 91 7/16 to 96" for your slider. We had bought a less expensive door that adjusts from 93" to 96", but it did not fit--measure your door carefully from inside the tracts. I have a small dog (23 lb Lhasa Apso) but he does not like to be restricted, so I thought the large door would be better for him. He's slow to change, so it's taking him a while to use the door on his own. Not that it's hard for him, he's just stubborn. However, note that the rise on the door is 4". If you go with a Medium or Small size the rise goes down by one and two inches. It would be better for my dog if the rise were shorter, but he can still use this one with minimal effort. I did not see the rise height listed on the websites or I may have gone with a Medium. They were listed on the outside of the box when it arrived. As many of the reviews state, the weather striping that comes with the door is junk. My husband actually used pipe insulation and wrapped it around the edge of the pet panel. It's not overly attractive, but does the job very well, was easy to install and is simple to remove if we need to. The sliding door we're using is not real visible from the rest of the house anyway. We are just using a wood rod in the tract for keeping the door locked. We consider this a great alternative to cutting a hole in the wall and would recommend the door. ... show more

The installation was relatively easy, but I did run into a few issues. 1. The security system sensor had to be removed from the door. Now there is no possible way the mfg. could account for all the possible security systems out there, so this is not their fault. I was able to use a very strong magnet and glue it inside the hollow bottom part of this pet door. That was enough to trigger the sensor to make the alarm think the door was closed. (That was really the only option for me, since the sensor is embedded inside the frame with wires going through the wall.) 2. There wasn't enough weather foam tape. This was either a packing mistake at the mfg., or just a complete oversight. I purchased the one that can handle up to 96" doors, and now I have a 12" gap in the weather proofing where cold air is just gushing in. (Amazon support credited my account so I could purchase some more weather proofing.) 3. The "lock" had to be installed at the top and hole drilled twice The bottom of the door has a wheel next to the edge, so there's no place for the lock there. I installed it at the top instead, which works fine. However, do to the large temperature swing in this state, the hole no longer lined up once the sun went down. I had to drill down another 1/8th inch. 4. The glass sweep rubber strip doesn't stick The sticky strip on this is horrible. One cold-hot-cold cycle and the rubber glass sweep strip fell off. The door was cleaned before installation, but it didn't matter. I ended up having to glue it to the door with some flexible glue to allow for expansion and contraction. 5. Door flap is not strong enough Their web site says you can install a second flap on top of the first one if the wind keeps blowing it open, so I'll probably have to do that. It's not so much the wind as it is the extreme temperature & pressure differences that keep it from closing completely about 50% of the time. The media could not be loaded. I love having a dog door to allow my goldens the freedom to go potty while I’m out running errands or taking my kids for a fun day without the pups, etc.. I always worried leaving them for extended periods of time because, although they don’t potty in the house, I didn’t want bladder/intestinal issues to arise. This door was pretty easy to install. Just needed to add a bit of weather stripping to ensure it is sealed against the patio door. It won’t be 100% sealed but if you do it well enough, you can keep a pretty good temp and airflow regulation. It took my dogs a day or two to fully understand how to use it but they’re doing great now and are in and out most of the day. Beau is no longer hitting his back like he did in the video & although the flap itself looks quite small you can see my 70/80 lb babies fit right through with no issue. They love the freedom, I love that I don’t have to worry about them. I also have a camera set up in my back yard to keep watch of them while I’m out if I’ve left the door open for them. They’re not huge barkers (honestly they never bark) but I still like to keep an eye and ear out for them to ensure they don’t take the freedom for granted and annoy our neighbors.
