  • Great product and great customer service
Size: 64 Quart
I don't usually take the time to write reviews but I am so impressed with this product and their customer service! It runs pretty quietly, the controls are easy to use, being able to easily flip over which direction it opens is handy, and the dual zones work great! Even in my car in near 100 degree heat, with it regularly reaching over 100 degrees inside my car, it has been able to maintain a temperature of 40 degrees in the large compartment and 0 degrees in the small compartment. When I had a problem with the fridge (100% user error, I lost the drain plug), customer service consistently replied to my emails within 24 hours. When we realized the problem was caused by me misplacing the drain plug, they offered to send me a new one free of charge. I feel very confident if anything goes wrong within the 2 year warranty that it will be quickly resolved. Don't waste your money on a better known brand that will cost triple the price of this, but don't cheap out on a company that will leave you hanging if you have a problem - this fridge/freezer is high quality at a great price. ... show more

  • Happy chill
Size: 64 Quart
Great fridge/freezer! Happy with it so far, testing in my garage with my solar system in bench test before installation in my camper van ("Curly-Wurly"). It was handled roughly in shipping with busted Styrofoam packing and a small, generally hard-to-notice crack in the lower compressor cover. It seems unaffected in operation (so far?!). It seems to draw less current that advertised, measuring less than 4 amps / ~ 50 watts in fast-cool mode. I don't have an accurate measurement on daily kWh draw, however is seems to be a good bit less than I had designed my system to supply. It seems I can get a good bit more than the expected 3.5-day run from my 280ah battery bank. I'm happy with the performance. It gets quite cold in a very reasonable time. It seems to hold well, even in my hot garage. My few gripes. Both, I sort of knew before buying. I wanted the capacity and the small price upgrade from the smaller size was worth it. It is, however, a bit too tall to sit upon! We won't sit on it regularly, however I had hoped it would work as an impromptu extra seat. My feet reach the ground (I'm 6'0") yet adding a cushion on top would make it a bit more uncomfortable. Even more so for a shorter person. The other issue is that the larger section will be awkward in digging items out of it's depths. I am looking to introduce a basket that will still allow a carton of milk underneath. Finding a suitable basket is a challenge, and there's no lip to hang it from. Both of these are *very* minor issues which I will overcome. I'm still getting used to the control panel lock-unlock method and wonder if this awkwardness is really needed compared to real yet slight possibility that the settings would get inadvertently changed. If I was stuffing it in the back of a car or jeep, it would seem more worth it. As I'm installing it in a van, there is less chance of accidental button presses. In the end, I'll rarely ever change the settings, so it's not a problem. I had one instance of it seeming to "forget" my settings after an extended time powered off. Otherwise, it has worked flawlessly, and I wonder if this might have been a one-time fluke perhaps caused by a power fluctuation in my testing setup. It would be nice to easily lock the handle in the retracted position, as I plan to use it to move the fridge around inside my van more than outside. I'll come up with a solution. I am otherwise very happy with the tests so far. I'm enjoying free-cooled drinks during my testing. I keep rotating "blue freezies" from this freezer to our home fridge just to keep a thermal load going for test purposes. It's working well. I love the separate, reversible lids. I can't imagine opening the freezer every time I want something from the fridge (will reduce the amount of defrosting and "freezer burn"!). The built-in lights are useful. So far, quite pleased! • Versatility!
I've has this unit (45 gt.) for a few days and this review is based on some testing during that time. First, i wanted a unit that could refrigerate and freeze. Furthermore the unit needed to have independent temperature control in the two sections and this unit allows you to refrigerate in both sections, freeze in both sections or refrigerate and freeze in separate sections and you can switch which section you want to refrigerate or freeze. Note that this unit has two walled sections and not a movable baffle to separate the sections which allows for better temperature control between the sections. These characteristics maximize the versatility of the unit. Also, you can turn off the sections independently if desired. As a test inside the house, the unit pulled the smaller (right) side down from 70F to 37F in 23 minutes and the larger (left) side did the same in 26 minutes. Both sides were chilled at the same time. The 37F set point was maintained within a degree or two over two separate 24 hour periods and would quickly return to 37F. I haven't tested it at freezing temperatures yet but I expect that it will not have a problem reaching a freezing set point. The controls are straightforward and the panel is fairly easy to read. Again, the independent control of each section allows for maximum versatility as you refrigerate in both sections, freeze in both sections or freeze in one section of your choice and refrigerate in the other section. Two operational modes are available, MAX at 60 watts and an ECO mode at 48 watts according to the specifications. I have not checked those values. However, this unit can be operated on 120v house current or 12v DC using the included "cigarette" adapter in a vehicle or in a portable solar power system. The unit has battery voltage protection to prevent overdraw on a battery, which I have not tested, and most solar batteries can measure the power draw which I plan to do with my system. Again, this unit rates high on versatility! One other high point: the compartments have separate tops so you don't lose cold air from the entire box when opened. The two tops, the independent temperature and ON/OFF controls and the MAX/ECO modes become very important if running on a battery. Note that cooling loss through the tops may be reduced by a cover of some sort (towels, blanket or other insulation. Noise: The unit is not noisy and when running just emits a soft "whirring" sound. I gave it four stars only because it was not perfectly quiet which is not possible with a compressor system. Note, that the compressor does not run all of the time and shuts off when the unit reaches set point (add it is perfectly quiet then). But, sometimes the handle or the tops can vibrate which add some noise. Adjusting the handle and tops or putting some weight on the tops eliminates that noise. In a moving vehicle, you probably can't hear it run. So, overall, this unit is perfect for versatility! ... show more

  • Product Performs Well
A little premature with this review. Only having it for three days. Hence the four star rating. Would certainly have giving the fridge/freezer five stars. But can't speak about longevity. But what I can talk about is how impressed that I am with the build quality and how well it functions. It has true dual temperature control which is a must have. Don't buy a fridge/freezer with a single temperature control. They rely on a divider to try to separate the two zones. That never works out well. This unit the 45 quart model got to set temperature quickly. And it maintained the set temperature very closely. It is also nice and quiet. I think that you should consider this product. And yes I did purchase it with my own funds. ... show more
