    • Nice-looking, really absorbent, and the dog doesn't tear them up

I bought 3 packages (6 total mats) of the largest size (24" x 36"). They look nice. They are substantial, thick, and lay flat. They soak up dog pee really well. Even if the dog flips one over on itself and pees on the underside, the underside will soak up pee to some degree and prevent a puddle on the floor. If you have enough of them, then you can just change them whenever it's necessary. I had been using the standard puppy pee pads made of paper with a blue plastic backing, and my dog would relentlessly flip them around, pee on the blue plastic instead of the paper, and then chew them to shreds. The paper ones show a big yellow circle after the dog pees; the cloth ones just look wet, not yellow. Much better optics. What I also did was to get the 72" / 6' square "Whelping & Puppy Pad" (tan on top, white on the bottom) to lay on the bottom of the playpen area (5' square), and then use the Puppy Pads on top of the Whelping Pad, so that even if he misses one of the Dog Mats, the whelping pad will catch it. Seems to be working pretty well. No urine smell like there was with the paper mats, no drip, no mess, no irritating paper shredding or jumping around destroying them. My dog leaves these alone. He may flip them around once in awhile, but doesn't chew them. This is a great solution for those who have a washing machine handy. I use regular laundry detergent and some Borax (no bleach or ammonia), and wash them on Gentle Cycle. Borax kills germs pretty well. They come out smelling nice. I've only had them a couple of weeks, and I imagine they will eventually wear out, but I plan to buy more. I wish I had known about these earlier! My dog is fully potty trained to "hold it" for #2 and "go" outside, but when I have to be away at work, he pees on the puppy pads, and I just change the pads. I got ten in all so I would always have plenty ready to go. The fabric and stitching are durable through many washings. They are still like new, no signs of wear after months of use. My dog shows no interest in chewing on them or tearing them up like the paper ones. This is an excellent product! --> Two tips: Wash them on Gentle cycle, and hang them to dry (don't dry them in the dryer), and they won't wear out. I use Borax with detergent to disinfect them. And bonus - they seem to absorb any odor on the dog himself after he's sat or laid on them, and they make my pup smell clean as a whistle. Update, January 26, 2019: My pup is 16 months old now, 20 pounds. The weather has been terrible, and my dog doesn't want to go out in the ice and snow. Solution: I put three of these puppy pads on the floor and he knows he can use them to "go." Neither of us has to trudge out in the sleet and snow, in the dark. And it's a lot easier to pick up and toss. Just remember to pick up the puppy pad after the pup goes on it, remove solid waste, and put it in the washing machine. Nobody wants pee pads sitting around all day, so take care of business right away. Some people have said they leak - well, sure, if you leave them long enough, they'll stink up the house and might even leak. I haven't had problems with them leaking, but it's good to clean up after your dog as soon as possible. For longer periods, use the EZwhelp whelping pads as extra insurance underneath the puppy pads. Another use: I put one of the large whelping pads in my dog's crate before I shampoo him, and add some towels, so he has a clean place to roll around after he's bathed. Don't forget to use Borax in the wash to disinfect the pads! Bleach will damage the fabric. Do not put them in the dryer! November 15, 2020: My pup is over 3 years old now, and I've had these puppy pads for almost 3 years. The ones I bought in December 2017 are still in very good condition. They still look nice and work well. I am amazed to find something that lasts this long and is so useful. I've seen reviews that have been critical of the puppy pads, likely because people put them in a dryer. It's important to know how to take care of synthetic materials. My advice is: -- Wash the pads in Warm (not hot) water -- Wash on Gentle Cycle -- Put Borax in with the detergent to disinfect (and allow them to soak for awhile) -- Do not use bleach or ammonia! -- Rinse them twice -- Do not put them in a dryer -- Air dry them (outdoors in the sunshine if possible; further disinfects) ... show more

We love these. My dog is now 6 and we have only had to replace our previous pads now after 5 years of consistent daily washing. They have never leaked and are a life saver to protect our floors. I want all of the guinea pig world to know these EZ whelp pads are awesome. This is so much better than fleece and totally cost effective. I have a large rabbit cage which is 17x40 and my piggies sleep in this at night and spend all day in a kiddie play pool with a fence around it...3 ft round. I was using carefresh bedding and a litter box which my boars use about half the time for pee and some poo. The carefresh is odor absorbing but definitely dusty....then along comes whelping pads. WOW!!! I BOUGHT A 36 inch pad and put that in the bottom of the kiddie pool. Its soft and wonderful for piggie feet and I only need to take a little plastic sand shocel and scoop up any poops and place in the litter box. Pee is immediately absorbed and after a week still no smell. I washed the pad in the washing machine on cold and dried on low heat, cones out like new. So I then got the slightly thicker paw print pads as poctured and one pad fits in the travel cage I have and 2 pads fit in their night home cage. I just use my toy shovel each morning and its great. I was able to get carefresh bedding on sale so I use that only in the litter box. Persobally these make the cages look neat and fresh and I think its better to not have as much paper bedding. Its cheaper than fleece and I think more absorbing. Thanks to EZ whelp...piggies have a great new source for their home needs. ... show more
