They seem fine to check out my cat, maybe if your a medical student you'd want a little more expensive set that has extra ear pieces etc. Maybe a little heavier duty but they work can hear heartbeat and purring.

I bought this stethoscope for my niece who is obsessed with wanting to be in the Veterinary field when she grows up. The sound quality is very poor, you definitely wouldn’t be able to hear a heart murmur due to the poor quality, but it was cheap and works. I'm foolish enough to think that you can spend under $10 to listen to your heart or arteries. Easy enough to hear my beating heart with this but not lungs and definitely not anything like a pulse. However, it looks great once I put it together so it could make a fine prop for a DR or nurse costume.

I only used this as part of a Halloween costume so it did the job. It was very inexpensive and the price was reasonable for the purpose that I needed it for. I don't know if it would work as a "real" stethoscope so I cannot rate it for that, only as a prop.
