  • Fantastic tent
Color: Blue
I really wasn’t expecting much. I had never heard of this brand and I’m very skeptical of most tent brands other than top names. I was VERY impressed with this. I was able to fit a large Queen air mattress and had room for a twin next to it. It won’t leave much room for gear but it’s doable. Perfect size for myself and my two young boys. A young family would be fine. Anyone with older children may want to look for a larger tent. This is only a true 6 person if you don’t use air mattresses and sleep right on top of each other. Pros: - super fast setup. I’m an avid camper and I’ve been handling tent setup alone for over 20 years. I had this tent up in less than 10 minutes on my own and that was taking my sweet time. - fabric seems very durable and thick. - lots of storage cubbies - built in shoe mat is fantastic - blackout is about 90% effective. Sunrise was 6am and I was barley able to see light when I woke up around the rain fly ceiling (where mesh top is) and around the base. Still… I had zero issues sleeping in and would have no problems with an afternoon nap. I actually had to look at my phone to see what time it was because I thought it may have still been dark out. Blackout does make it difficult to find things during the day if the windows are up, so invest in a nice tent light/fan. - nice rain fly/guy lines. - it seems to cut down on heat a little bit during the hottest parts of the day. Cons: - tent poles are somewhat tough to extend and click in. The longevity of these is a concern for me. - putting the tent away is a nightmare. It’s very long and cumbersome. Once the poles are folded inward, it’s very difficult to get it tightly wrapped so that it goes back into the bag - bag quality sucks. I don’t see this bag lasting more than a year or two. - I have concerns about the “easy up” design. Because of the way it folds up, I’m worried that it will prematurely wear away at parts of the floor where it folds in on itself or stretches around poles. ... show more

  • Easy up, cool in full sun, well built, lots of pockets
Color: Blue
The media could not be loaded. For the price this is a great tent. It goes up super fast. It is a pop-up. The fly takes a little longer but is no big deal. The stakes are more robust than most inexpensive tents, but I upgraded them. The zipper works easily, It has windows on all four sides. When you unzip a window, if you don't do it all the way down you can tuck in the flap next to the screen for a neat and tidy look. If you want, there can be a total of 12 pockets and there is also gear loft if you wish. It is 6 feet tall in the center with pretty straight walls. For two people it is perfect as it is 9 ft by 9 ft. In full sun, my previous tent was unbearably hot. This one, just warm. It is very dark, pitch black in fact at night. In the daytime a little light seeps in the open ceiling if you have the fly on. Sleeping in is easy. Held up in gusty winds. Haven't been in rain with it. I've been looking for a long time for an easy up tent, 6 feet tall, windows on all sides, easy zippers and according to other reviewers water proof. If that last item pans out, I'd say this is a winner. Our previous tent was a REI Kingdom 6. Good tent, but this is better. We're going to let the old one go. It is 4 feet long in the bag, so not super compact. But that is the price for all the other features. Great tent! Here's an update, in several very hard rain showers, it stayed dry. When we packed up several days later there was water under the tent on top of the tent footprint that had been there for days. But inside was dry. ... show more

  • Really dark, weird zipper placement
Color: Blue
I bought this to replace an instant tent of another brand that ended up not being very durable. So far, I have only set it up twice and used it once. I set it up when I received it. Then used it for a 4-day camping trip. We had some light rain, but no downpour or wind to really test it. It was super hot and sunny (heat wave). Definitely both pros and cons to this tent, but overall, seems decent for the cost (and at this price point, I won't feel as bad if I need to replace it as soon as my last, more expensive one). So, I'll start with the darkening coating inside. I expected darkER. I got total blackout conditions. You should sell this to nightshift workers to use as a canopy over their beds! It was too dark. Once you close the windows to keep the night damp out, you can't see anything...at all. My partner and I woke each other up repeatedly, because every time you get up for a middle of the night tinkle, you either need to use a light or bumble around feeling your way out. It did keep the interior cooler during mid-day, so this was a plus. And if you're a sleeper inner who doesn't want to be woken up by sun at dawn, or maybe going to a festival where people have lights on all night, this would definitely work well for you. The windows themselves don't zip across the top, which seemed odd, but overlapped the tent enough that no damp got in. The bigger annoyance with the windows is there wasn't any tie to roll them up, so they dangled into us. But we managed to roll them outward to tuck into themselves, but this just wasn't very secure. The zipper on the door was pretty annoying, too. There are two separate zippers...not as in two zipper pulls that allow you to open from either end, but the bottom right corner of the door flap was a sharp corner where both pulls met and stopped. So if you just wanted to open the corner a little to creep out at night without letting the bugs in, you had to find two zippers in the dark instead of one. On the plus side, there was no zipper snagging...I think every other tent I've had has a place where the zipper snags on the door. A positive was the set-up. The poles opened and clicked locked very easily. My partner took the tent down (and then I re-did the folding, lol), and I didn't hear any complaints about collapsing the poles, so I assume that worked smoothly. When I set up the tent in my recroom when it arrived, like other reviews mentioned, it looked like pinholes along the seams. I really don't know if they were actually holes, or just bright spots where the stitches punctured the blackout coating and gave that illusion. None of it looked like holes from the outside. But I just coated the seams with a seam sealer just to be sure. The dimensions seemed a bit smaller than my previous tent rated for the same number of people. There wasn't quite as much room for storing clothes/gear alongside our double size air mattress. I think if we had a queen size mattress, it would have completely filled the tent with no extra space, so factor that in for the air mattress you use. (Though, really, couples, you're going to like each other better if you have two separate mattresses or camping pads, lol... we're old enough to know better but shared an air mattress anyway.) The rainfly has a quirk in the location of the velcro. One of the velcro tabs hits right where the corner padding is covering the top joints of the poles. It needs to be either 6" higher or 2" lower. I have Velcro, so will probably just fix this by adding an extension piece to fit around the padding, but it could use a modification to the fly design. I thought setup and breakdown were easy peasy. Even with a rush to breakdown camp to beat an incoming storm and without finishing my coffee, I was able to get it folded and rolled up to fit back in the bag (my partner wasn't, but despite being the one who taught me how to set up a tent and how to camp, fitting a tent back in the bag has never been his strength). Of course, as with every tent ever sold, immediately replace the cheap tent stakes with something that won't bend the first time you hammer them in. I wish they'd just charge $10 more and give us good tent stakes and a bag good stakes fit in.. ... show more
