This sensor is used to power an automation for the light strip in my walk in closet. The reasons I recommend this are: -Installing with HomeKit is a breeze -small compact design - very accurate motion sensor - can be used for many automation set ups (I currently have it set to turn on light strip when motion is sensed and turn off after 5 mins with no motion) - helps to reduce electricity bill by ensuring lights are not left on - lights come on even if my hands are full It is really fun to test out and create new automations with this product. Other ideas you can try: -send notifications when motion is sensed (for example, if you are hiding Christmas presents in closet and kids are snooping, you will get a notification that someone was in closet) - change the color of a light strip if motion is detected (a silent alert when your baby wakes up from a nap) -enable a pre set scene (Maybe a good morning scene like: turn tv on, set lights to certain temperature, set thermostat to preferred temp, start coffee pot) The possibilities are somewhat endless! ... show more

    • One of the best motion sensors I have used
I bought this sensor and really like it. It's fast and reliable over Thread. It allows you to set the hardware timeout that determines how long the sensor stays in the motion state. It also has a light sensor in it, so the user can create automations based on the amount of light in the room. The motion sensor stopped working within 3 days after I bought it. Taking the batteries out and putting them in again fixed the problem, but then after a few days the problem would come back again. I contacted Eve product support and they immediately told me this issue is a known problem and told me how to fix it. After the fix, the sensor has been working great since then. So, I would advise people to contact Eve if their sensor is not working correctly. Also the sensor detects my presence at a distance of about 15 feet with the sensitivity setting set to Medium.     • Relatively good motion detector for Apple HomeKit
There are not many motion sensors for Apple HomeKit that I could find. The motion seems to be reasonably sensitive. My primary issue is it isn't the easiest to setup automation based on its two sensors. That is, it has a motion detector and a light sensor, but I found no way to do anything with both sensors together. Perhaps I haven't tried hard enough in Apple HomeKit. Also, maybe a nit, but the slot on the back is nearly worthless for installing onto anything but a tiny brad. Absolutely no nails or screws I had would fit, and I have no joke about 30 different sizes of nails and screws. ... show more

Very simple to setup. The sensor's detection is great for the small room I have it in. One door is straight in front of the sensor while the other door is 90 degrees off from sensor. Lights are turned on when entering from either door. Only problem, being worked on, is that the lights do not automatically turn off per the time set every time. ... show more

When the motion sensitivity is set to high, do not expect the battery to last more than two weeks, other than that it works as designed
