At the end of its days, it was working pretty terribly to begin with. I split my time between my place, my office, and my boyfriend's place. I bought the EvaLight and turned it on last night. Not only did it cool off my living room, it also cooled off my bedroom area when I turned it towards that area, and kept it cool all night. I just ordered an EvaChill so I can cool the place down even more. I have the windows open and a ceiling fan going and it has been more than reasonable in my apartment with the EvaLight despite it being hot outside. This was great while it lasted. It did exactly what it was supposed to do and put out air that was an average of 5-10 degrees cooler than the room temperature. The problems: I bought it in March, now it is August, and the cooler is effectively unusable. Whenever I plug the device in, the screen turns on for a second, the cooler goes to its highest fan setting, and then the screen completely dies. This means that I cannot control anything on the device, including the fan speed, lights, timing, etc. Turning the wheel does absolutely nothing so the screen must be dead. The cooler is effectively stuck on the maximum fan speed, and I can't do anything about it. I would appreciate it if I can receive a refund, replacement, or repair for this. I purchased this for burning man, I'll update my review afterwards. The humidity today is 44%. Temperature was rising, and when the room temperature reading went from 81 degrees to 82, and the temp of air coming out went from 71 to 72, I turned on my actually air conditioner in my apartment. What I'm seeing here in Los Angeles is that I get the low-end of performance, only ~10 degrees of effective cooling, at the bottom of the claimed 9-25 degrees possible. This is mildly disappointing, but not a deal-breaker. Burning man should have higher temperatures and no humidity, so I'm very keen to see how effectively it cools my tent. Other things to note. The unit design is pretty solid. It looks nice, the control wheel and TouchPad work as an interface, the light being integrated into the water tank is a nice touch. As others have noted, the fan is hardly whisper quiet but that's just how fans are. I'm most happy to report that it actually draws only 4-5W of power at maximum fan speed, and only 2W at half-power (which is the most effective setting for balancing ambient noise and cooling effect). This means I can run this thing for hours and hours off of a battery power source, good for the off the grid application I need it for. All in all, this is a slick-looking unit with some well designed features and anesthetics. It's held back by the inherent limitations of evaporative cooling. If you live in a humid place, you don't want to buy this. I do think it's a little overpriced though. This is the same working principle as a swamp cooler, something you can make yourself pretty cheaply and might actually be more effective than this. The media could not be loaded. I bought this evaporative cooler for my greenhouse and it is working well. My greenhouse is 6 x 8 so 48 Square feet. Just slightly more than the 43 ft.² the cooler is meant to cool. I have found it does three things for me. 1. On the warmer days, it cools the greenhouse 6–8°. 2. My greenhouse tends to have low humidity when it is hot outside and this is good for adding the humidity to the desired 60–70%. 3. The humidity with the nights cool tends to keep the greenhouse about 8° warmer for longer. My greenhouse is uninsulated and I am in zone 3, so the temperatures have been varying from 50° to 110° in the greenhouse otherwise. So far I have been able to keep the temperature is topped out at about 90 though I suspect that will be a bit more of a challenge in the warmer months of July and August. I plugged the unit into a thermostatically controlled outlet along with the fan so when the fan kicks in the unit starts. When the fan quits the unit quits. So far I have to add water to it only once a day as long as I start with the water filled at the beginning of the day. The unit tells you the temperature of the air coming into the unit and the temperature going out which tends to vary 6–10°. You cannot set the desired temperature on the unit but the bottom line is that it does what it says it is going to do. Unlike others, I have had no problem with leakage. As long as you fill the reservoir and don’t tip the unit, it is fine. I use something with a watering spout to put the water in and that works well. I am completely satisfied with this unit and definitely would recommend it for either personal use or a small greenhouse. ... show more

I love this cooling fan. It is very quiet and effective. I have it on my nightstand and it works great to keep me cool at night. It is not meant to cool a whole room, but does what I needed it to do keep me cool. I tried other less expensive brands, but they were too noisy.
