I learned the hard way that some of the less expensive alternatives in this market offer such good deals on price that there must be a difference...there is! This unit absorbs the heat that is generated from a 220 line and a charge that is done efficiently. I have used this unit to recharge my BMW X-5 and in 3-4 hrs it goes from 0 hrs to 35-40 hrs even though rating is 31 hrs. My first 220 line cost half as much and it stopped working after 3 mos (warranty was 90 days) and this one has passed the first 3 mos in flying colors. You can plug in during lower cost times since the charge will be done quickly. I also recommend you unplug unit from wall socket when not charging as even the power consumed by leaving plugged in is a waste.     • Love it at first, not so much now

Originally I would have rated the EV gear wall charged five stars. After about 8 months of use, the unit starting failing. Would charge for a random amount of time and the fail - meaning the EV being charged would report a charger fault and charging would stop. This happened on every charge on both my 2021 Mach-e and 2022 Mercedes EQS. Contacted the company any they promptly sent me a replacement unit. I was impressed! The replacement worked fine for about 3 months and is now doing the same thing. I have two other L2 chargers - one Ford brand that came with the Mace-e, and a MUSTART 40 AMP "portable" charger - they work find on the same 50 outlet that I usually have the EV Gear plugged in to. Am contacting the company again to see what they do this time. ... show more

We’ve had our EVGear charger for 3 months and it works great on our Audi e-tron and Chevy Volt. The circuit breaker started tripping lastnight, and today I called EVGear Customer Service. Ken was very courteous and knowledgeable and eager to help solve my problem. He explained how to determine if it was the charger or circuit and had a replacement boxed and ready to ship immediately. However, before the new charger was shipped, my nearby electrician determined it was an incorrect breaker size that was the trouble- so the EVGear charger was blameless and good to go. If you’re in the market for a home Level-2 EV charger- there’s cheaper and more expensive choices out there. However- I am certain that the EVGear company and their customer service is without peer. This is an excellent charger if you are looking for one that simple and easy to use. The mounting hardware is very nice and the instructions were easy to follow. As long as you are not looking for network connectivity, this charger is a solid choice.

Now that I've had it installed and been using it a few days, I have to say WOW! How the heck did I live without it for so long! I have been using the 120 charger that came with my 2013 Chevy Volt, and it took 10 to 12 hours just to charge it to full range (36 miles, +/- ) Now it does it in 2 hours. My next vehicle will also be a plug-in hybrid, so I wanted a good charging station that wasn't ridiculously priced and/or ugly haha. Not only does it work like a champ, it also looks sharp. Very attractive design, and it also came with an anti-theft mounting plate. I didn't know this and I was wracking my brain, wondering how I'd keep it from being stolen, until my husband pointed it out while he was mounting it to the wall. I just installed a quality padlock and I feel pretty confident that it will prove to be too much trouble for a would-be thief, and they'd move on. I LOVE IT! ... show more

Once I had 240v installed, its easy to hang and plug in. No apps or downloads needed. It has a bright green light when charging, so I build a cabinet for it because it can be seen from the street. So far so good. Now, if I could only get Bluelink to work consistently.

I’ve had this for Over two months and it’s so far it has worked perfectly. It charges my car from 0 to full (100mi) in about three hours and using my app I can set it up to charge in the middle of the night. It was easy to attach to my wall. I would recommend. I have a Ford Focus electric.
