I'm glad they used the same plugs for a long time. My S55 passport stopped working so I called Escort support and they said a new cord would fix the issue and it did! Great price and fast shipping, the official website was/ is out of stock!

Stupid curly pigtail style cords. I ordered my (first ever) Escort Radar Detector. Nice enough. Seems to work. Makes me more aware of my driving speed (which the police will appreciate). But the stupid cord that comes in the box is useless. It is short and tugs the detector sideways. This cord is *long* (really long, once you have it in your car). It seems a bit excessive, but it makes everything better. It would be even better if it were a flat cord (like how CAT VII or "Network" cable now comes in flat versions versus bulky round versions). But even so, it is super-easy to string this along the dashboard or headliner (as you like); barely an inconvenience! The biggest issue is tucking away all of the excess cord. That said, it is nice to have this length so that you have a variety of options on how/where to string the cord. As to the cigarette lighter plug. In one of my cars neither the cigarette lighter or the "accessories" (cig lighter #2) plug works reliably (they are jiggly), so I bought an inexpensive "cigarette lighter adapter" that has a USB2 plug on the end, and I plug that into a simple power bank (cheap external battery pack you charge a cell phone with). Works great, and I can easily change cars by just taking the detector out. All in all, this straight cord makes having a detector a workable option. They really should ditch the pigtail cord and just ship units with this. It has an old fashioned "land-line telephone style plug" that inputs into the detector, so I am not sure if that will work with other detector brands. ... show more

Product replaced the original cord which had worn out. It works well and provides a USB outlet to boot so I can eliminate a single to double power source so as to provide an option for me or a passenger to charge their phone. It could be a little longer to accomodate potentially other cars or rentals which may have the power source located lower on the dash. This product is junk. I purchased it to replace the original cord that came with my radar detector. The black cover around the wires cracked within a month on the first one that I purchased. I requested a return and was offered a replacement. I should have just returned it. I opted for the replacement thinking that I may have gotten a bad cord only to get a second one that did the same thing. It was too late to return the second on now I'm stuck with having to purchase another one from a different vendor hoping that it will be of better quality.
