  • Good system for price. Great value.
Size: 7-inch+4 cameras
Initial impressions: good. See edit below for updated information. The first time I ordered this rearview system, one of the video channels was not working. I tried the support email, and got no response in 7 days, so I returned it, intending to find another option. Turns out that most of these systems have similar, or even worse reviews, even the more expensive 'premium' brands. So I decided to just order another one and see if it worked, knowing quality control from Chinese electronics can be hit/miss, and usually, if it works out of the box, it keeps working. I have not installed it yet, but have bench tested the system. Good news is the second system works as advertised in testing, and all of the extension cables work. One nit to pick is that the display modes are not all accessible from the display. You have to use the remote to access some of the more useful split screens. Another nit is the size of the connectors. I understand that most won't want to deal with fixing the cable ends themselves, but having them plug/play requires a lot of large holes be drilled. I'll be installing in a pickup with a slide in camper, with three cameras on the camper (rear and sides), and will have the fourth camera at the rear of an enclosed car trailer. Thus my setup will require more breaks in the cabling to have the camper out of the truck, and I will be cutting/spicing some of the cabling. Update 6/3/17 Just completed a 3700 mile trip using this system, and I'm pleased with the performance. I ended up using three of the cameras on my trailer, and the fourth on a magnetic base to use on my camper or hitch. The install was involved because of the large holes required to pass the cable ends (which I was expecting), and I needed to use multiple cables to enable the connection between truck and trailer, and the overall length. I found velcro cable ties to be very useful to bundle the wires under the truck when not connected. Check the orientation of the cameras before installing so you know which way is up; this will save you some time on the install and you can verify everything is working before installing. I have the display mounted in place of my rear view mirror, and the 7" display works well for a single camera view. For viewing multiple cameras, it's a bit small, and it takes a while to get used to interpreting the image as you're driving. Keep the remote handy for changing modes. Images are limited at night by the low output of the IR lights, and you get a lot of flare from headlights and streetlights. Overall the system works well, and is a huge improvement over being totally blind to the rear. I'm looking into purchasing a 9" monitor to improve resolution and usability while driving. Update 9/14/17: I replaced the 7" monitor with a 9" monitor, which made viewing split screen images much easier. It takes up more real estate in the vehicle, but in a full size truck it's not that much of an issue. I also recently changed vehicles, which involved moving the monitor side of the system to the new truck, and I ended up with the monitor installed on the dash rather than replacing the rear view mirror. Still very happy with the system, and it makes it much safer driving a large rig down the road. If I could change one thing, it would be the camera lenses. They are very wide angle, and objects relatively close will still be a speck on the screen. A narrower angle would make the system better, especially when split screening. Update 7/30/2019 I now have a little over 20000 miles towing using this camera system. I still believe it's a great value for the price, but I am starting to have continuity issues through the connection to the monitor. ... show more

  • I was able to easily adapt to use as a quick disconnect setup
Size: 7-inch+4 cameras
I was looking for a low cost wired camera setup for my RV trailer that would allow -2- things, multiple cameras and a quick disconnect system at the hitch of my truck. In all my research it seems the second is all but impossible to find. After reading other reviews of this camera and one review in particular where the user said he was able to adapt it to do exactly what I wanted, I figured I would give it a try. I ordered the unit in March and received it in a timely manner. Since the weather is generally lousy in the Northeast that time of year and our first trip out wasn't until May, all I did when I received the unit was bench test it and look it over to see how I could adapt it to my needs. Everything worked well on the bench, so I put that aside. In order to make the quick disconnect work, it actually turned out easier than I expected. There are four coax cables that come from each of the cameras that run up to a single cable. This separate cable is about five feet long. On one end are four connectors for the camera coax cables, 12 volt power and ground for the entire system, and four other wires that can be used if you wanted to force a specific camera to full screen (if you use the left turn signal and you want the left camera to go full screen). On the other end is a thirteen pin connector that plugs in to a short connector on the monitor. That's all there is to the basic wiring. Normally this short cable would be in the vehicle connected directly to the monitor, with the coax cables running from it to the cameras. This really only works for a motorhome type setup in my mind. What I did to make it work as a quick disconnect was this. I ordered a 30 ft 13 pin cable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019S238FO/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_12 and ran this from the bumper hitch next to the trailer cable connector up to the front of my truck (a crew cab 6.5 ft box pickup) and into the glovebox. This left about five feet of cable in the glovebox to pull out when needed to connect to the monitor. I then took the five foot adaptor cable that came with the camera kit and wire tied it to the trailer connector cable and ran it back to where my batteries are located on the hitch right behind the propane tanks. I took the four coax cables from the cameras, which I mounted one each on the left and right side ahead of the wheels and two on the rear, and attached them to the adapter cable using a generous amount of dielectric grease in each connector to help protect it from the weather. Note here that I had also purchase a couple of shorter pieces of coax cable so that I wouldn't have a lot of extra coiled up in the way. There are numerous sources available on Amazon. The last piece of my setup was to supply power. I purchased a water proof illuminated rocker switch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019UM15U2/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_11 and through a 10a fuse wired it directly to the battery on the trailer. I connected the 12v positive in the harness to the switch and the 12v negative to a ground on the trailer frame and I was all set. Back in the truck there are several ways to mount the camera, I settled on attaching the stand to the back of the camera and using a pair of small bungee cords attaching the stand to my rear view mirror. I pull the cable I need out of the glove box and connect it to the camera. When I hook up my trailer all I do is back up, hook the ball, attach the trailer wire, connect the single push together camera connector, and flip the switch in the hitch to turn on power for the cameras and monitor. When I disconnect it's just the opposite. Don't forget to turn off the power as even without the monitor attached the cameras will still be drawing power! The monitor allows multiple viewing layouts from single camera thru 2, 3, 4 and different combinations of cameras. It also allows you to rotate the view of each camera individually until you have them all aligned as you would like. Unfortunately for me the first time I actually used the camera, I ran into a problem with the monitor where it started blanking out and losing settings. I contacted the seller and described the problem. Keep in mind you are contacting someone in China so there is a 12 hour time difference. They got back to me the next day with a few suggestions for me to try. I did, but they didn't work. I contacted them again and they got right back to me again the next day asking for my shipping information. They were going to send me a new cable because they thought that might be where the problem was. Coming from China it took about a week. I tested the system with the new cable but still had the same problem. I again contacted the vendor and this time they said they would send out a new monitor. I have since received the monitor and tested the system with it. So far it all seems to now work fine. It appears the monitor was defective. Overall I believe I will be pleased with the camera system. The quality of the cameras seem quite acceptable in daylight. I haven't had a chance to try them in the night, but I am hopeful as I had the painful experience of coming home late once last year and trying to back the trailer into my yard in the dark was not something I want to do again. A slightly larger monitor option would have been nice. When you have all four cameras up at once a seven inch screen is tight. A nine or ten inch would be much better, but at this price you can't complain. The initial problems I had with the monitor were unfortunate, but I give the vendor an A++ for customer satisfaction in working with me to get the problem fixed and at no additional cost to me. Finally with the addition of less than $50 in parts I was able to customize the system to do exactly what I wanted and function as a quick disconnect setup. I really have nothing to complain about here. • Solid build, good image quality, great value
Size: 7-inch+4 cameras
I purchased the wired, 4-camera 1080p with 7" screen kit because that looked like the sweet spot between price and product performance. My kit arrived promptly and was securely packaged. I took out all the cameras and wiring kit and tested it to make sure everything powered on and there were no issues. The screen fired up right away as soon as I supplied power and all cameras worked flawlessly. Image quality looks good. the camera housings are solid metal and I don't think there will be any issues on durability. I am still waiting on a buddy that does car electronics installs to free up to do the actual installation on our 22' travel trailer and truck but I think the install will be fairly easy. The only negative mark that I give it is that there's no quick disconnect cable. I would like to have the video cable feeds from the individual cameras to join up to one junction at the hitch of the trailer with a quick disconnect that runs to the bumper of the truck. Right now, the ideal install for this kit is for a longer RV not a trailer/truck combo. ... show more
