When I first saw this thing I laughed at the idea that it could speed up the fire making process but it really does. I have been making fires with a ferro rod and a knife since before it was made cool by t.v shows and I always use a similar procedure when making them but that changed when I started using this little gadget. Used to be that I would carve some feather sticks and make a birds nest, fuzz the nest and then strike sparks into it. Once it started to show signs of a flame I would hold it up and blow into then put it down and apply feather sticks etc. etc. Now I just leave the nest on ground under some feather sticks, apply spark and gently blow on the flame with the pocket bellows and it catches up very quickly and with out having to move the nest. It is light weight and very compact so it is very easy to carry and for the utility that I get out of it I cannot recommend it enough. ... show more

It’s a simple concept and it works. I made one of these years ago, with an old antenna and a bit of unused tubing from a fish tank. You can safely add oxygen to your tinder and fire. No smoke inhalation or missing eyebrows. Very light and packs easy. I keep one in my backpacking fire kit on every trip. Plus it’s a small family owned outfit. Genuinely impressed with how well this worked. I used a straw to try to replicate the effect before buying, but this is a step above that for sure. More than enough to aid with my wood stove on days when it's being a bit stubborn or just to speed things up a little.

These little pocket bellows are great. You can focus the air directly to where you want it without sticking your face right in the firepit and getting smoke and ash back at you. Really simple design, simply looks like a portion of a large old school retractable antenna, but very smart design and idea. Works great and is light weight.
