After replacing my gravel to a natural stone color, the water remains cloudy. For months I tried washing the stones, but due to the size tank & amount of gravel, I couldn’t wash it properly. It only took one complete flush to get 90% of the cloudy residue out. I was able to add a small amount of water by just turning a knob to get crystal clear water. I tried many other types over 20 years and this is the best one especially that it doesn’t need power. It uses the faucet to create the suction to drain and with a flip of a knob, to fill tank. I was skeptical at first because I couldn’t understand the suction, but it works great. I have hard wood floors and there was no spillage. This will make me clean the tank more often with the ease of use. This make cleaning easy for females, as you don’t have to drag many gallons of water back and forth. My biggest fear ordering a gravel vac is that it won’t connect to my faucet. I bought this specifically because it comes with multiple adapters. It fit! No leaks anywhere! So excited to not have to carry buckets back and forth. Easy to use. Took maybe 5-10 mins to fill my 36 gal. Haven’t used it for vacuuming yet but I did reverse it to get the rest of the water out of the tube and it emptied perfectly. Comes with a warranty on the instruction pamphlet ... show more

I rated this 5 star because the product came as described and made cleaning a 150+ gallon so much easier! Literally! Initially, I was looking at this product for quite some time but was scared to purchase. I had purchased a product similar to this before but it didn't work as well as this one. Before, my husband and I, would clean the tank the "really" old fashion way where we'd use buckets to fill the tank. Imagine doing this to a 150+ tank. Took us forever! Now, water changes are a little less than an hour with prep work involved. Cons: Not enough of a vacuum pull that I'd like to see, in order to siphon poop out but does the job. Pros: Easy to assemble Multiple ways to attach to faucet or hose Easy to clean Can take water out of the tank quickly and fill the tank quickly Worth paying for EDIT: After some time using the product, it does make water changes easier however, I wished the suction was a little more powerful. This hose/vacuum is a must have for any fish tank owner. It allows me to easily fill my fish tank after a water change and you can switch the valve and use it as a gravel vacuum. It does work better if your sink is higher than your fish tank. My sink is about 20 feet away and the hose has to go down and back up to reach the sink. After trying three different products to clean the bottom of 250 gallon IBC tanks, this is the clear winner. It does a good job removing it from the tank without (a) using a mesh bag which puts a lot of junk back into the tank, and (b) keeping an eye on a bucket that's about to overflow. The only complaint I have is that the suction is not completely consistent. It starts strong then sometimes the suction is reduced, then comes back up again. There are 3 main uses that affected how I rated this product - filling a tank, draining a tank, and cleaning a tank. I'm also taking into account ease of use. First of all, it's really easy to set up - anyone should be able to attach it with a pair of channel locks / pliers (and you might not even need those). I only needed to use channel locks because the existing fixture on the faucet was a bit hard to get off. The kit includes everything you need, with multiple adapters and thread tape. And the fact that it uses quick connectors is definitely nice. As far as filling a tank goes, it works really well. Once everything is hooked up to the faucet, you just run the vinyl tubing to the tank and turn it on. It filled a 55 gallon tank really quickly - faster than I thought, which almost resulted in over filling the tank! Much faster and convenient than lugging buckets back and forth from the sink. As far as draining the tank went, that still works decently, but it took a long time. And, once you get most of the water out, you have to make sure to keep the end of the cleaning tube completely submerged. If even a tiny bit of air gets into the cleaning tube you lose suction. To fix it, you have to take everything apart and then reassemble it, with all of the parts submerged (which was a bit tricky). As far as cleaning the tank goes, it really didn't work very well at all. It uses the pressure of water coming out of the faucet to generate suction, but even with the faucet wide open (both hot and cold), I was barely able to get even relatively light debris all the way up the cleaning tube to the point where it was sucked into the vinyl tubing. Overall, it's easy to hook up and works great for filling a tank, but for the price I thought it should have been better at draining and cleaning the tank as well. ... show more
