This hose/vacuum is a must have for any fish tank owner. It allows me to easily fill my fish tank after a water change and you can switch the valve and use it as a gravel vacuum. It does work better if your sink is higher than your fish tank. My sink is about 20 feet away and the hose has to go down and back up to reach the sink. I rated this 5 star because the product came as described and made cleaning a 150+ gallon so much easier! Literally! Initially, I was looking at this product for quite some time but was scared to purchase. I had purchased a product similar to this before but it didn't work as well as this one. Before, my husband and I, would clean the tank the "really" old fashion way where we'd use buckets to fill the tank. Imagine doing this to a 150+ tank. Took us forever! Now, water changes are a little less than an hour with prep work involved. Cons: Not enough of a vacuum pull that I'd like to see, in order to siphon poop out but does the job. Pros: Easy to assemble Multiple ways to attach to faucet or hose Easy to clean Can take water out of the tank quickly and fill the tank quickly Worth paying for EDIT: After some time using the product, it does make water changes easier however, I wished the suction was a little more powerful. I had never heard of this before and when I did I immediately bought one and tried it today. I can't believe how fast this worked and great it was. I took out half of my 55 gal tank and replace it in 30minutes. I used to lug 3 or 4 5 gal pails and then have to dump the old stuff that many times also. There are 3 main uses that affected how I rated this product - filling a tank, draining a tank, and cleaning a tank. I'm also taking into account ease of use. First of all, it's really easy to set up - anyone should be able to attach it with a pair of channel locks / pliers (and you might not even need those). I only needed to use channel locks because the existing fixture on the faucet was a bit hard to get off. The kit includes everything you need, with multiple adapters and thread tape. And the fact that it uses quick connectors is definitely nice. As far as filling a tank goes, it works really well. Once everything is hooked up to the faucet, you just run the vinyl tubing to the tank and turn it on. It filled a 55 gallon tank really quickly - faster than I thought, which almost resulted in over filling the tank! Much faster and convenient than lugging buckets back and forth from the sink. As far as draining the tank went, that still works decently, but it took a long time. And, once you get most of the water out, you have to make sure to keep the end of the cleaning tube completely submerged. If even a tiny bit of air gets into the cleaning tube you lose suction. To fix it, you have to take everything apart and then reassemble it, with all of the parts submerged (which was a bit tricky). As far as cleaning the tank goes, it really didn't work very well at all. It uses the pressure of water coming out of the faucet to generate suction, but even with the faucet wide open (both hot and cold), I was barely able to get even relatively light debris all the way up the cleaning tube to the point where it was sucked into the vinyl tubing. Overall, it's easy to hook up and works great for filling a tank, but for the price I thought it should have been better at draining and cleaning the tank as well. ... show more

I have multiple tanks in one room, and this makes water changes SO MUCH better. I absolutely love it. Two complaints though. 1, the connection at the sink leaks pretty bad, I checked the seal and the seal is perfect and where it should be. 2, to switch from filling to sucking, you have the completely drain the house of water 100% before you can get a syphon again which kinda sucks. The media could not be loaded. Great concept for the suction of syphon, but the thread is not the same for my faucet after removing the sprayer end, so it doesn’t attach properly and sprays water (also sometimes pops off) since it’s barely attached with one rung of thread. Also, although it does have a slotted-guard piece that is inside the base of large suction tube, it would be nice to have an attachment with a smaller opening, mesh, or net of some sort, to apply to the end of tube as an option (given I have small fish that have gotten sucked up the tube). I rubber banded a cut piece of netting to the tip, as a make-shift solution though. But I would REALLY like to have a proper attachment to the faucet though.
