Overall a good product. Sound construction and usage is easy. There is a slit size opening knob to adjust how much (amount of seeds or fertilizer) I want to disperse/spread. The other knob adjusts the "spread field angle or area". It can be widened to increase the area of application of the fertilizer or spread of seeds. The third adjuster adjusts the RPM speed... More or less speed gives the application pattern accordingly. If used as per these instructions, this is very useful product. I needed this for covering the bald patches on the yard.... I previously used the hand held wheeled spreader (manual one) that is least controlled spreader and least possible customization while spreading. So I got emerald green patches and least green patches due to uneven spreading of the fertilizer. This time I am pretty much sure I did the right job and will see the results in few weeks.... I purchased this seed spreader because I wanted to through some grass seed down with some nutrients. The spreader arrived fast and without any damage to packaging. It comes with a USB charger cable. I plugged it in and left it fully charge. Once charged I took it outside and filled it to the brim with grass seed. You can change the speed of which the seeds come out as well as the side of the seed you are using can be adjusted. This thing is crazy. I did the whole yard of mine in less than 5 minutes. It was really that quick as it was fast and spread far. Once I ran that I refilled it with nutrients for the areas of the yard that need it. Same thing again, it just dominated lol. I seriously recommend this item and would be glad to buy again. ... show more

    • Much better for salt than my hand-crank version
I got a hand-cranked seed spreader to spread seeds, and it of course works great for that. The one I got said it was also good for rock salt, but it was pretty bad at that. The crank constantly got jammed and it was a pain to hard crank with one hand and try to keep it steady with the other. I basically ended up using it like a glorified scoop. I saw this motorized spreader and decided to see if it would do any better with salt. To my gratification, it did. The motor was strong enough to force out the relatively course (i.e. cheap) rock salt that I use. You can control the speed and angle pretty well; it's great for not getting salt where you don't want it. It's easy to use and powerful enough to do what I need. If you've got a snowy season coming up and rock salt to spread, I highly recommend it. ... show more

We have been using a manual spreader which works great but water to switch to electric one. This spreader does not have inbuilt battery which is good because it keeps it light. My husband used it last week to spread 'weed and feed' and we were pretty impressed with how easy and quick this is as compared to the manual one. This spreader is made of sturdy plastic and is rechargeable. One full charge lasts for one hour or more depending on how much you use it. There is knob to set the spread distance and also to control the amount of material dispersed. This is a multipurpose spreader that can be used for seeds, fertilizer and also for spreading salt In winters. The unit is small and compact and light enough to carry it easily. First, I'll address the price. At the time of this review, it's $59.99 with a 30% coupon available. That makes it about $42. I looked at comparable units and they were all over $60 at local competitors. I think the price is very reasonable. As far as performance goes, it worked fantastic for me. I started with a full charge and 45 minutes later it was still going strong. I applied the fall seeds to my lawn and next week will be the fertilizer. When the snow comes, I will use it for ice melt. I ordered this to replace a manual spreader and I'm glad I did. As long as you follow the directions for settings regarding what you're putting in the container, you will be fine. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this spreader and will recommend. ... show more

    • Wish I would have had this sooner
Just purchased a large property and this works even better than my push drop spreader. Just fill it up and go. The battery lasts about an hour on high and wow can this put down some grass seed and fertilizer. Looking forward to using it more next summer. Overall great find.
