This is a very sturdy no nonsense spreader that was easy to put together and provided consistent spreading action. Simple mechanicals don't allow for odd variations (I had to return a 'green company' spreader to the green company as it had too many bells and whistles to adjust to keep the flow consistent.) Love this. Works with heavy applications such as liming without the wheels leaving wheel tracks. Bigger than a less expensive Scotts but I plan to have this for years. Expensive and bulky but otherwise great to use.

This thing is heavy duty, spreads evenly and is a piece of cake to put together. It comes 99% assembled, you just to attach and screw in the handle. Absolutely worth the price.

    • Janky Hardware
The handle's fork attaches to the main tubular steel frame via carriage bolts; well, the fork on my handle was a good 2" wider than the frame it attaches to. When I first tried to install it, it took a good bit of torque on the carriage bolt to start closing the fork against the frame as intended, and unsurprisingly, it stripped out the oversized square notch the carriage bolt mates up to. That was on the one that worked; the other carriage bolt wouldn't even screw into the wing nut it came with no matter what. Useless junk on Echo's part. So, I wrapped one end of the fork in a towel, laid it on the ground, and pushed down on the opposing side which bent the fork inward and closed the gap by about an inch. Then, I visited the hardware store up the street and got some SS nuts and bolts and twisted some wrenches until it was on there solid. After a short trial, I think this is going to work very well at spreading salt this winter. Just annoying I had to manually bend pieces and go buy hardware for a $170 spreader because the stuff it came with was garbage. Not really acceptable at this price point in my opinion, but maybe they're all like this.. ... show more

    • Awesome spreader.
I use this to spread salt on weedy areas of my acreage usually a day before it rains. SO MUCH more simple, and less time consuming than spreading by hand. Very smooth operation.
