This Easy Reader thermostat can be easily set up as either 7-day programmable or non-programmable to allow you to control the temperature to match your lifestyle. Plus, it is compatible with most furnaces, air conditioners, and heat pump systems, including dual fuel systems.     • Slow temperature reading change, but still accurate
Excellent display - can read it from across the room. Easy to install. The one-button control feature is as simple and quick as it gets. But the temperature reading is very slow to change. Results in overshooting the target. So I just set the desired temp target two degrees lower. Edit: I just spoke with White-Rodgers on the help line. They said that built into the device, there is an unannounced automatic 5-minute delay per indicated degree change on the display, presumably to prevent rapid cycling of your heater/AC. I use my new thermostat in manual mode, turning it on for heat in the morning. So, if you have a smaller house (like my 650 sq. ft. condo), and the heater can warm the place faster than the (delayed) thermostat display will respond, the actual room temperature rise will be underreported. This postpones operation of your preset-temperature off-command to the heater, allowing the actual room temperature to keep on rising. The remedy is to pick a lower temperature set point for the initial cycle (in my case - 2 degrees lower, to prevent a 5 degree overshoot, which is uncomfortable), and, after the display comes back down to the initial heater-off command setting, increase the set point to the final desired temp - which the thermostat will maintain quite evenly thereafter. ... show more

Best Thermostat I ever installed. Easy to see and read. Best control layout, making it so simple to use for anyone. Plus the nicest, clean looking big display, with the nice blue back light. Like the way it works. This unit I bought to replace the original 13 year old Honneywell round manuel unit installed when house was built. It had been acting up, but boy, what a difference. Makes my ageing Heating and Cooling system feel like everything is just working so much better, although I'm sure it just feels that way. :-). Still the control is so accurate now, down to the exact degree you set it for. Simple installation anyone can do in no time at all. Looks great too. Smart design. Really love the product and would recommend to anyone to replace even the common digital units sod today.. ... show more

    • Excellent Thermostat, Nightmare to program
The thermostat is great once installed and programmed. Tech support is also outstanding. I had to call them twice, the second time I was on the phone with them for over half an hour. They were so busy that I had to leave a message for them to call me back. THEY DID. Both times about an hour later. That's were the 5 stars come to an end. The instructions that come with the unit are USELESS. I watched youtube videos for the physical installation, very helpful. However, little help on youtube for programming. The biggest problem I had was I couldn't get the thermostat to run properly in program mode. My fan would stay on, never shut off. The reason for that is it comes programmed for a heat pump. I don't have a heat pump, I have a new single stage system. I spent a half hour on the phone with tech support trying to figure this out. Helpful hint, make sure you tell them what type of system you have up front, it will save you a lot of time. Tech support was also patient and polite. That's more than I can say for myself. Like I said its a great thermostat once you work through the kinks. I would definitely buy again. ... show more

    • It does the job
This thermostat is easy to read and does the job well. In addition it is programmable. You can set times to raise and lower the temperature for both heating and air conditioning. The only issue is that it will. To adjust both heating and air conditioning without setting it to either heat or a/c. In other words you cannot have it turn on some heat in the morning and then switch to a/c for the afternoon. The temperature reading is adjustable also so if it is a little off you can correct it. The thermostat has a setting to make the house warm or cool at the time you program it. This means it turns on the heat or a/c before the set time. It didn’t like this so I turned this feature off. Now if I want the heat to come on at 6:00 am then it comes on then and not earlier. I like the thermostat and would buy it again. ... show more

    • Simple features!
Installed this in my grandmothers house who was having problems with her old thermostat and the "slide" heat/off/AC. As in she was not able to stop and either went far right or left causing her furnace/air to be confused and basically locking it up in the on position. This new thermostat made life so much simpler for her - she has been using a week now with no problems turning Heat on or off. She is also able to easily adjust the temperature with nice big buttons. The display allows her to see the room temperature and the thermostat setting - simplicity at its best! Installation took about 10 min install and have up and running in the basic mode - did not use the programmable features and did not buy for that reason. I HIGHLY recommend this for anyone who is dealing with an elderly at home person to eliminate confusion on the thermostat! Great product! ... show more

    • Can't go wrong with this thermostat
When our old Honeywell thermostat quit working, I looked for a replacement. At $400, just for the thermostat alone, thought this was ridiculous. Started researching the features I wanted - easy to read, back light, easy buttons to utilize thermostat functions, etc., etc.This thermostat hit them all. I have a high-efficiency 2-stage natural gas furnace and electric air conditioner and I spoke with White-Rodgers (Emerson) before purchasing to see how all the wires hooked-up and crossed-over from the Honeywell system. Their customer service was superb in telling me which wires went where and also at explaining what they all meant. (This was even before I purchased the unit.) Once I got the unit (fairly quick ship), I would say it took less than 10 minutes to hook-up. It works perfect -- even better than the old Honeywell unit I had and is truly easy to see and adjust. So happy with this one, am thinking about replacing the thermostat on a second unit that our home has. For someone who is very meticulous, I have nothing bad to say about this unit and the price offered via Amazon. ... show more
