  • Just What A Type II Diabetic Needs For Pasta
I like that I can make pasta my way, low carb. When I bought mine, it was about $60 cheaper, listed as new. Made a lot of spaghetti with oat fiber and wheat gluten. Last night I made noodles with semolina flour. There is a recipe using semolina flour in the accompanying book (I would half that). The plastic parts are sturdy and the metal shaft is quite strong, as well as the motor. Makes 1 & 2 batches. Just make sure you really whisk the eggs smooth Cleaning is easy to do. Wait for the pasta to dry and it pretty well flakes off for an easy washing. It's not really loud running. Now and then you might hear a slight squeaking when extruding. Still it is quieter than most appliances. Easy to assemble. You can pretty much look at it and see how to assemble. What can I say? I like it. ... show more

  • Excellent product design and instructions, great recipe book
My wife and I yesterday had our first try at using the EMERIL LAGASSE Automatic Pasta and Noodle Maker. We used Emeril's Pasta recipe (page 9) and Emeril's Shrimp and Pasta dish (page 31) - both of which were very easy to follow in the included Pasta and Dough recipe book. The linguine pasta created by the machine was OK but not perfectly smooth - perhaps because we were using Bob's Red Mill Semolina Flour which others have separately noted has a relatively coarse grain structure. Next time we'll use Caputo Semola di Grano durum flour to compare finishes. The end dish was superb - and quite rich with all of the butter used in the recipe. Top marks to Emeril! Cleaning up the pasta maker does take a bit of care - particularly the extrusion disk - but, after drying, the different parts come back together with minimal fuss. Storage is a breeze - with enough room for all the extrusion disks, both measuring cups and the cleaning brush / probe to fit into either the mixing cavity or the slide out drawer. Tonight we'll be trying out the slow juicer! ... show more

  • Love it but…
I use gluten free flour which there is a recipe for. Yay!! My fist batch had too much water and stuck to the blades a lot. It’s very easy to use. I love that you don’t need to dry the pasta before cooking. The juicer attachment works well too. But it does not go together easily. Everything turns the opposite direction than you would expect. When inserting the shaft you have to make sure it is pushed in all the way from the inside of the attachment. I tried for a solid month, contacting customer service twice. I knew how it was supposed to go in, but needed to push the shaft through the juicer attachment all the way. It doesn’t just slide in. Then you have to put it on to the right and turn left to lock in place. I finally figured it out today and had some delicious carrot juice! ... show more

  • Don’t get your hopes up
I ordered this with high hopes and told everybody I knew about my order, and it came just in time for dinner. I was incredibly excited to start making my own fresh pasta and it seemed easy enough- and it was… until it wasn’t. The machine started mixing my ingredients but it never extruded pasta!!! It looks like a bad design thing where instead of pushing out the pasta, it falls through the machine. We tried three different tips, four different times, with four different mixtures and not only was it a waste of time, it was a waste of ingredients. I was severely disappointed with the results (or lack thereof) of this machine and ended up silently packing it up. I ended up having to pick up dinner as this took over two hours of trying, waiting, trying and now because I told everybody about my excitement for this product I have to relive the disappointment of this machine every time someone asks me how my pasta making night went. ... show more

  • Makes an awesome gift!
We bought one for ourselves when they first came out and we loved it. We bought this again as a gift to our daughter. This is great for anyone, but especially for people on restrictive diets, as you can custom make your own recipes. It is a much healthier option for everyone. I have been telling everyone about it and this price is amazing. We use it with frozen fruit to make great healthy desserts as well! ... show more

  • quite disappointing for ravioli/lasagna noodles; but easy to clean!
It's fun to use and easy to clean. A bit of tinkering is needed to get the moisture of the dough just right. Best results with semolina flour and just-right liquid-to-flour ratio. What is most disappointing is the wide noodle adapter. The resulting noodles are just barely wide enough for a standard 2" ravioli press, and because of the helical extrusion mechanism, the noodles always curve with one long edge significantly longer than the other. So it's not possible to extrude a ravioli noodle straight enough to cover more than 2 or 3 ravioli in length. Even then, you need to bend each noodle gently to take out the curve put in by the extrusion process. I don't see how you could make a lasagna with these noodles, unless you had a banana-shaped lasagna dish. In retrospect, I wish I had tried one of the cake-mixer-style combined-function pasta makers. They more closely resemble the old hand-crank pasta maker that, while quite tedious, got me better results. If you have tips on how to get this machine to make non-crooked ravioli/lasagna noodles, please reply! ... show more
