I buy these not because I am a survival prepper but because they are handy to have. If you are at the beach and not clothed enough and you are cold it cuts the wind. You can have one in your pocket. I am from MN. and at times you get stuck on the snow with your car. If you don't travel with a car coat or blanket there is one in the glove box. If you are hiking and you get lost for a night waiting for someone to find you and it's night and you need to keep warm you can reach in your back pack and stay warm and dry. There are many uses. They just always are with me. They don't last long but they work for what you need it for at the time.
