  • No PFAS, great size!
Size: 20 Cups Cooked, Stainless Steel
This rice cooker is exactly what I hoped it would be. There are no bells or whistles, no overly complicated (and hard to clean) design elements. It is simply a stainless pot, press-marked with water level recommendations on one side, and a glass lid, both of which are dishwasher safe. The whole thing goes from the electric heating part to a cooling rack, and from there into the refrigerator, and eventually into the dishwasher. Two key reasons for using stainless: 1) No PFAS or other forever chemicals, which come with most of the "nonstick" coated rice cookers out there. No plastic touching the food as it heats up, to leech anything into your meal. The metal will last far longer than a coating, too, so this cooker ought to have a much longer 'lifespan' than the 'nonstick' types out there. My previous rice cooker, an expensive Tiger brand nonstick version, started showing wear and scratches on the lining after just 2 years of use--and that was in spite of hand-washing and carefully using only the plastic rice paddle provided with the cooker. Once the nonstick coating begins to scratch, you know that you're ingesting PFAS. This stainless rice cooker will never have that problem. 2) So much more durable. You can use other implements than the plastic paddle, it can go in the dishwasher, you can really scrub the pot if you've cooked something other than rice (like oat porridge) and it stuck on... I can't stress enough how much I like that the pot and lid both lift out of the electric element, and are fully washable. I loathe, absolutely despise, the type of rice cooker that has a hinged lid incorporated into the heating part of the frame, which cannot be easily removed and cleaned. Those lids become disgusting after a few years, even if you're careful to wipe them and leave them open to dry. Also, the pots in those versions do not come with their own lids, for moving them into the fridge for leftovers; what a poor design! I'm never buying a hinged rice cooker again. This stainless rice cooker comes with a lid that is both easy to clean, and moves with it into the fridge. Simpler, cleaner, and just better. There's only one thing I don't necessarily love about this rice cooker: the amount of rice measured in the provided cup (a standard "rice measuring cup" is about 3/4 cup in regular measurements) doesn't fully correspond to the water lines provided in the pot. This may have to do with the types of rice I prefer: basmati, jasmine, and regular 'long grain' white rice. They all seem to need a bit more water than the indicated line for the number of cups. If I add water up to the next line (ex: water line 8 for 7 rice measuring cups of rice), it cooks up nicely; neither too hard nor too squishy, no excess water. However, if I do this with 10 measuring cups, the rice inflates right out of the pot and lifts the lid way off the rim! In reality, this pot can only fit 8 rice measuring cups of a long grain white rice. That's still a lot of rice, completely filling the pot up to the lid. Maybe with a less fluffy type of rice, their measurements would be accurate. Still my favorite rice cooker (out of many cookers, over the years), after two months of constant use. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • So nice to have a stainless steel rice cooker!
Size: 6 Cups Cooked, Stainless Steel
This review is for, "Elite Gourmet ERC006SS 6-Cup Electric Rice Cooker". I bought the smaller 3-cup version first and discovered it's too small for us, it's perfect for one or two servings. Still the same materials and build quality as the 6-cup I eventually kept though. I'd say they're identical except the size. The stainless steel is wonderful, for anyone who knows how to cook with it, it's better than teflon, etc.. But, this rice cooker has yet to overcook so that the rice is baked to the bottom anyway! A few things others have noted I found to definitely be true. First, don't leave it on the warm setting that it automatically clicks over to when the rice is done or it will bake to the bottom. This has been true for this design for as long as I've used these and that's a few decades. Just unplug it when or soon after it clicks from cook to warm. The other is that the measurement of "3 cup" or "6 cup" does not mean Imperial Measurement Systems like the wet or dry cups we use here in the USA. It means the included plastic cup, which equates to 3/4 of a dry cup. Likewise for the liquid cup measurements on the inside of the bowl. I measured and did the conversion: For every Imperial dry Cup of rice, add one Imperial liquid Cup of water. It's just that easy. Wait 15-20 minutes, unplug and perfect rice, every time! Build quality is excellent. ... show more

  • Does the job!
Size: 6 Cups Cooked, Stainless Steel
Initially, it seemed like the pot was wobbly and rickety - until the lid went on and held it down. Great for 1-2 people who don’t need a lot of rice. Doesn’t take up too much space in the kitchen. The metal insert pot wipes out so easily once you add water, I have no idea why people think they need nonstick. Zero regrets. The instructions say not to put the metal insert through the dishwasher but seriously? It worked out fine. Live a little :) ... show more

  • Rice does stick, so I treat it with oil everything I wash it
Size: 6 Cups Cooked, Stainless Steel
This is my second pot, had the last one for 12 years, hoping the same with this one. I had treated it before the first uses but still found rice sticker so now after wading I treat it with oil to help, I love the esthetic, so we will see if it last another 12 years, does cook up great rice.

  • Truly stainless steel
Size: 6 Cups Cooked, Stainless Steel
After using it to cook rice seven times, I feel I can review the device. The first couple of times it gave a light smell of burning oil coming from the heating element, but that smell is gone. The stainless steel bowl is easy to clean and that makes all the difference, no fear of scratching the surface. I used a regular steel spoon instead of the plastic one I had to use on the non stick surface. It cooks just the same as the Panasonic one it replaced. I don't know how long it will serve but the initial quality is good. I definitely recommend it for rice cooking, will try to cook buckwheat and then update the review. ... show more

  • Almost Perfect
Size: 6 Cups Cooked, Stainless Steel
I bought the stainless steel bowl because I have about the harms of PFAs in nonstick bowls. It works just like any other rice cooker but the stainless steel bowl makes the rice come out a bit mushier than nonstick bowls, no matter how thoroughly I prewash the rice. Overall, the pros of this cooker outweigh the cons. ... show more

  • Excellent rice cooker
Size: 10 Cups Cooked, Stainless Steel
After cleaning my new rice cooker I put it through a huge test. My mom used to cook what she called hot rice. You put your rice in and on top of it put diced onions , bell peppers, mushrooms and smoked sausage. She would have use a can of French onion soup, one concentrated beef broth, one cup of water . Well I’m watching my salt intake so I used beef soup base and red pepper. I pressed cook and this rice cooker did a great job on a tough recipe!! My second time using this rice cooker and it stopped working. Going back! ... show more

  • Excellent
Size: 10 Cups Cooked, Stainless Steel
Very satisfied with this purchase. Wanted a rice cooker that was not too big and that had a stainless steel inner pot. This one fit the bill. Doesn't splatter when cooking. Rice fluffiness is just fine for a non-gourmet cook. Perhaps a chef might be more discerning.
